Nice team but awful process. Get a number. Wait. Get told you need to wait for a call centre to call you. Wait. Get a call. Wait for desk agent. No cars are available. Wait. Go to desk. Sign contract. Go to garage. Finally get keys. Took over an hour. It’s not that complicated. Oh and the usual insurance up sell despite having already paid for extra full insurance.

The worst experience with a rental car company in my life. I won't even give them 1 star. Appalling service. Shame on avis for hiring such unprofessional, rude and unhelpful staff. Arrived 2 hours prior to my booked pick-up time, the lady at the counter checked my driving licence and said that the booking is all good but i have to wait 2 hours, otherwise i need to pay 1 more day of rent. I said no problem, will wait. Returned in 2 hours, again gave her my driving license, passport and credit card. After looking at it for 5 minutes, called another guy from the office, who apparently was the manager. The "boss" looked as well and asked for another card or driving license, because he needs them all from one country. Everywhere in the world i booked cars with no problem whatsoever, but these clerks from Malpensa decided they need all documentation from one country because It's impossible to have the driving licence and passport from a different country than your card. Like if I was born in a country, then moved to work and have my credit cards in the UK, it's wrong. I asked them to show me the legislation that says that, they said it's because they said so. Also a third guy from the budget rental which is next to them jumped in and with a raised voice and rudely told us to go away. I was shocked, my wife was shaking, how is this even possible in 2017??!! I waisted 2 and a half hours and ended up without a car, abused and with the money taken from my account, even though they said they will refund me in 10 days and to call the customer service UK, which i couldn't do straight away without a phone number yet in Italy. I can't describe in few words my whole experience with them and the treatment I've got so will stop here. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Swindlers and deceivers! The worst of the companies from which we rented a car. Even budget companies do not do this to their customers. We took the car for 10 days, returned it as it should: with a full tank (specially refueled near the airport), safe and sound. When inspecting the car, an employee of the company did not voice any problems, and said that everything is ok. What was my surprise when in a few days I was not returned 200 euros, from the amount of the deposit. After 3 weeks of waiting, and sending several letters, I managed to find out the following: we were charged for the allegedly not filled car and for the damages that the car did not have at the time of delivery. It was possible to return 27 euros and prove that only 1 defect was not caused by us, because it was fixed on paper at the time of receiving the car. Everything else could not be returned, since there were no other defects during our use of the car, but they were indicated in the final calculation. We could not confirm the refueling, because Payment was in cash, and the check was not saved. Avis itself does not respond to requests and does not plan to return the remaining amount. Therefore, take advice: 1. be sure to take a photo / video of the car when it arrives at the airport (even if the employee tells you that the defect is small), 2. be sure to mark it on the inspection sheet. 3. save the last refill check, and make a scan on return. 4. when renting a car, take a photo of a full tank on the dashboard. 5. when renting a car, take a photo of the car from all sides. I hope after this, they will not be able to just hold your money. And better, use the services of another company, save your money and nerves. There are a lot of decent offers, but this is definitely not avis.

AVOID: overpriced and so many HIDDEN CHARGES that we are still paying for months later. Too busy FLIRTING WITH EACH OTHER to explain the full policy. Very unprofessional behaviour. They talk you through bits of the policy but fail to acknowledge that I unfortunately do not speak Italian (I accept this is clearly not their fault), but they fail to highlight the additional costs that will be incurred at the end and even the beginning of the rental period, such as the "airport fee". You could rent a vehicle from outside the airport and immediately save yourself EUR 120. 120 EUROS TO LEAVE THE CAR PARK!? Instead of making you aware of what you are paying WAY above and beyond what is in your confirmation, they are too busy FLIRTING with each other and fail to answer your questions in full. Nearly 4 months later, we received a letter with a EUR 42,70 admin fee for an undisclosed fine. This admin fee does not have anything to do with the fine and is purely their charge for handing your details to local authorities. They have failed to mention what this fine relates to. We sent initial rental invoice back to them for a refund on the sections they clearly neglected to bring to our attention. We received vouchers, which we will never use with Avis. Perhaps we could use these to offset our latest admin fee...

TLDR: Waited 3 hours for our car - would not reccommend. Like some of the others have commented here - I wish I'd read the reviews prior booking (and prepaying) for a car here. The waiting times are just crazy. We had ordered (prepaid) a car a couple of months prior. As we're not "Avis Preferred", we had to talk to the staff before getting our car. We got queue-number and had to wait 1 hour and 50 minutes before it was our turn. There was no extra information while waiting, and I didn't got any apologies for the waiting time. I asked the staff if it always was like this, and he explained that this wasn't something extraordinarily. He used 20 minutes processing the request (it was nothing special about it - just a simple prepaid car, no additional drivers, etc.), and then we had to wait for another 50 minutes for our car to get gas and get washed. We received our cars 3 hours after getting our queue number for a prepaid car. It's just unbelievable that they can operate a business in this way.

Great experience , great people and service. I will recommend to all my friends that frequently fly into MXP Airport and need to rent a car.

They have had a chain of faults unacceptable. First, they changed the car from the rental agreement without updating the info the system. Second, they could not close the agreement when i returned the car. I was late for the filght and they promised me close it ASAP and send me the bill. After, 20 days and 10 phone calls (45 min each due to waiting times) I don't have the bill and dont know what will be the final cost.

Stay away from this location. They will charge you for a bunch of stuff, it's pure scam. I booked a reservation from the US for my trip to Italy. Everything was fine until I got back to the US and saw the following charges on my bill that were never disclosed to me: - $1,000+ charges for damages that I did not cause. When I returned the car they told me there were new damages and I re-assured the person that they were there already. He then said "no problem, just write 'no accident' on the paper and you're ok, there will be no charges". When I got home I then saw a charge of $1,000 on my bill. - $200+ 'Optional Charges'. Nobody could explain to me what they were for and it's still not clear to me. - $170+ charges for pre-paid fuel. When I rented the car they told me it was already included in the reservation that I had initially made and no additional charges were needed. However, now it shows up as a new charge on my final invoice. This wasn't a communication or expectation issue either. I lived in Europe for over 16 years and have booked rental cars plenty of time. I also did so on several recent trips back to Europe. This Avis location is just absolutely horrendous. Stay away from this location, it's just headache when you get back home. Avis US customer service won't help you either. They'll just route you to the Italy location, which doesn't help because you're no longer there.
