★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When visiting the park, to avoid a too long stay or paying astronomical amounts permanently, there is this ancient crater to visit. It is magnificent! And nobody (month of May).
The view is splendid, the small walk very pretty.
Very pleasant experience to do alone or with family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The two craters of Silvestri of the highest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna, were produced as a result of the Mount Etna eruption in 1892. They are located on the southern slope of Mount Etna and are roughly 1900 meters above sea level. That day, I was sitting on the edge of the crater, I could feel the warm gas escaping from the crater. We mistook it for a cloud at first:-). Absolutely amazing experience. Very unique!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Short walk. It’s around 2.000 meter high, so a bit cooler then in the city, which is nice now. Good start to go to the larger crater. Must-see for people who just like to explore for themselves a bit. We parked before the tourist-trap a bit further up the road and walked alongside the road. Doable, but there is no sidewalk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Any photos could express the unbelievable view of Etna, its beauty, its power, its greatness.
The day we have visited it, it was very, incredibly, strongly windy.
It was enough cold. But even our 5 years daughter was amazed of this place.
Must see.
