Here at the entrance of the church Santi Michele e Magno, just around the corner from the Vatican, there is one of the four 'scale sante' of Rome. This the the one for those in a hurry, 'li presciolosi' Done quickly, or better yet, slowly, one step at a time in meditation, these stairs and the church provide an excellent opportunity for deep contemplation...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ like a David and Goliath this cosy little church sits on the edge of the mighty arms of Bernini's Vatican square. In every view from St Peter's onto the Tiber and Castel St Angelo it can be seen but only when zooming in seriously into the tip of the square's right arm.
Then when found and visited it is jaw droppingly beautiful. Small but intimately providing feeling of Sanctified shelter to the soul, never pushy like it's big neighbor. Every Dutch has to visit as it is 'the Church of the Frisians' (founded as a schola providing refuge to pilgrims from the Frisian lands, then stretching from what is now Danmark all the way to the French coast, for Rome outside the walls was very dangerous in those times ) Yes it is much okder than it's huge brother across the street ;-)
Dutch is spoken (as well as English and of course Italian) and when there's Mass one should. ot be surprised to be asked to join and participate :-) for they have only small staff.
Visit this little gem and you will always carry it on on your heart.
