e	elvira di blasi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dofana e' una località molto importante dal punto di vista storico,in quanto dopo una vita intensa in epoca antica,fu anche la località dove fu martirizzato per tradizione nel IV secolo S Ansano,l'evangelizzatore dei senesi. La chiesa,da non confondere col vicino oratorio ottagonale,era una parrocchia ed e' nota nei documenti dal XII secolo e fu più volte rimaneggiata fino alla versione degli anni 30 che oggi vediamo,che e' sicuramente piacevole,ma che personalmente non mi da grande emozione,anche perché non è più fattibile leggere la sua storia nei muri,o almeno nelle parti della chiesa che ho visto. Accanto alla chiesa sta la vecchia canonica,che in parte fu poi trasformata in una villa privata . Il nome Dofana potrebbe derivare da ad duo fanum,e quindi ad una località con due luoghi sacri. Si tratta dell'oratorio ottagonale e della chiesa connessi al santo? Si può riferire a due luoghi pre-cristiani più antichi? Di certo,in epoca etrusca proprio in un'area subito adiacente alla chiesa era presente un santuario con una stipe piena di ex voto. La connotazione religiosa del sito dell'area della chiesa ha quindi una radice ancora più antica. Dettaglio suggestivo: sulla curva della strada principale di Dofana si apre a sinistra ad una stradina che porta all'oratorio ottagonale,mentre la strada continua passando per la chiesa pochi metri dopo. Nel bivio è presente una croce,che tradizionalmente segna i luoghi religiosi,ma c'è anche come segnaletica un grosso cipresso,anziano,splendido. Dofana is a very important place from the historical point of view, as after an intense life in ancient times, it was also the place where S Ansano, the evangelizer of the Sienese, was traditionally martyred in the 4th century. The church, not to be confused with the nearby octagonal oratory, was a parish and is known in documents from the twelfth century and was remodeled several times until the version of the 30s that we see today, which is certainly pleasant, but which personally does not give me great emotion, also because it is no longer possible to read his story on the walls, or at least in the parts of the church that I have seen. Next to the church is the old rectory, which was later transformed in part into a private villa. The name Dofana could derive from ad duo fanum, and therefore to a place with two sacred places. Is it the octagonal oratory and the church connected to the saint? Can it refer to two more ancient pre-Christian places? Certainly, in the Etruscan era, in an area immediately adjacent to the church there was a sanctuary with a stipe full of ex-votos. The religious connotation of the site of the church area therefore has an even older root. Evocative detail: on the curve of the main road of Dofana opens on the left to a small road that leads to the octagonal oratory, while the road continues through the church a few meters later. At the crossroads there is a cross, which traditionally marks the religious places, but there is also a large, old, splendid cypress as a sign.
