★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On our first visit to Rome and Italy, we wanted to find a place that sold local treats to be taken home as souvenirs and reminders of our trip. We are so thankful that we found Castroni! It is a local chain selling gourmet food items such as dry pasta, tea, chocolates, sweets, and more. It seems to be a very popular place among the locals, as it was crowded when we entered the store. It was so hard to choose what we wanted to take back home, but we decided on a couple of chocolate bars and various other small chocolates. We cannot attest to the quality of the food and beverages that were served at the counter, as we did not purchase anything to be eaten immediately.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Castroni flagship in Rome is out of their own Castroni instant coffee brand. And the next delivery is due in more than 30 days (they said). The reason quoted was of course “Covid”. One wanders how long this Covid excuse is going to be exploited. Five years? Ten years?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you would like to taste and buy for your own moka one of the best coffee in Rome, Castroni is the place to look for. Close to Vatican City it sells great quality Italian and Worldwide products. They set international deliveries and the staff is mostly kind and available to listen the customers needs. If you get into this shop you'll find lost in colors and smells, an unique experience that I truly suggest.
