Very beautiful winery! The tour through the winery is really special cause it also has a very interesting art collection. The restaurant has really good food in a very charming environment.

The most magical place full of art, hospitality, and wine! We wish that we could stay even longer and will be back. Thank you so much for everything!

Very nice winery, good (but not exciting) tour of the cellar and land art in and around the property. But be careful with buying wine at their enoteca: prices are significantly higher than at local wine shops in your home country. Interesting "tourist tax" approach of Castello di Ama.

High quality tour overlooking art installations, visit to the cellar and tasting. Definitely money well spent. The wines are of good/excellent quality, however single vineyard expressions are overpriced. The lunch is good, but not excellent.

If you like great wine - skip Castello di Ama. I feel bad about giving a one star review. In fact this is my first one star ever. Let me share why I’ve chosen this rating... We came just for a simple tasting. We knew it would be 15 euro for 3 wines. We arrived knowing that information but were fine because we heard the property was exceptional. It was! The property is beautiful. But it’s not just the property of this wine maker. The village itself that this winery is in, is stunning - and anyone can visit it. The wine was very, very average. Absolutely nothing spectacular at all. The person pouring was nice - but sterile. And we were given a full-on sales pitch to buy scarfs, candles, and branded merchandise. There was nothing authentic, warm, or special about the wine, atmosphere, service, or the tasting. I highly suggest skipping Castello di Ama. I believe the attraction is due to spectacular marketing on their website only. Perhaps you may have a different experience if you eat at the restaurant or stay at the Villa. We much preferred our tasting experience (wine, service, property, ambience) at the family operated and Verdi Monti which is also in Gaiole.

Fantastic views, Excellent wine and the food at the restaurant was spectacular. Their olive oil is also a must buy. My wife and I always buy a bottle when we return to Italy. If you haven't done the wine tour and tastings that's also a must do.

We had the pleasure of visiting Castello di Ama for a wine tasting and tour. In addition to learning about their impressive wine and olive oil production, we also had the unique opportunity to enjoy their contemporary art collection. With international artists providing installations that challenge your senses and inspire you with their beauty, this was far and way THE BEST winery tour we’ve ever been on. Our tour guide Sigrid, who has a degree in art history, expertly guided us around the property. She was passionate and knowledgeable about this unique estate and the renowned artists that contribute to its prominence. And after working for more than a decade there, there wasn’t one question she couldn’t answer about the wines either. Trying their award winning wines was definitely a highlight. They were robust, well structured and balanced wines that paid homage to a family that has been cultivating the land for close to 50 years. Our fabulous tasting was followed by a delicious lunch served on their outdoor terrace overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills. To say it was a picture perfect lunch would be an understatement. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive and very warm and friendly. I think we spent four hours there and it went by in a flash. Take note that this is not your typical vineyard. It’s more than that, it’s something very special. If you love food, wine and art, we can’t recommend you plan a visit highly enough. Spending the afternoon at Costello di Ama was definitely a highlight on our trip!

I visited Castello di Ama with friends in 2020 and it really couldn’t have been more magical. The tour was excellent with detailed explanations of each art installation, the tasting was generous with an opportunity to try five wines, and lunch in the restaurant was exceptional. It was so good in fact that I’ve recommended a visit it to anyone who would listen, and was really looking forward to experiencing it all again this year. What a shame that the magic appears to have been replaced with the desire to make money. Despite emailing several weeks in advance and chasing persistently, my friend received no reply regarding our tour/tasting/lunch reservation until a couple of days before our visit. He was told that the tour and tasting would go ahead but the restaurant was “closed”. We were therefore surprised to discover that others on our tour were dining in the restaurant after their tasting. When we asked our tour guide about this, we were then told that the restaurant wasn’t in fact closed but “fully booked”. Honesty in the first instance would have gone a long way. The tour itself was incomparable to last year’s. Only three of the dozen or so pieces of art were mentioned at all, unlike our previous visit where everything was explained in detail. As for the tasting, we were given a few sips of three wines, and charged €70 for the privilege, a significant price hike by anyone’s reckoning. I cannot fault the staff at Ama who are all polite and keen to help, but can’t help but feel that the whole ethos of the place has changed (a change in management perhaps?) and now the need to cash in has replaced the desire to delight. My advice would be to skip the pricey tour and tasting and grab a map from the gift shop and go on a self-guided tour instead. You can then spend the €70 you’ve saved on a delicious lunch (if they’ll let you in of course ;-)
