A Wonderful experience !!! The Walk about Tuscany tour was well planned, stayed in the best hotels, the food was exceptional and the guides made every moment more memorable. Highly recommended for a group of friends or a couple.

My husband and I really loved our walks with Gianni! What a great way to see this area. The first day we walked around Montalcino. Gianni shared all kinds of history with us about the town. We stopped for some coffee and then went on to our brunello di montalcino winery tour. We really enjoyed learning about the wine making process from Giacamo and then we had a wonderful lunch. After lunch we took a nice walk down to the Abby of Sant’Antimo. We learned all kinds of interesting historical facts from Gianni along the way, he really knows tuscan history. On the second day we started off in bagno vignoni. We took a nice walk around to see the old mills along the hillside. Our next stop was an olive mill with a tour by Ilaria. We enjoyed learning all about the process of making olive oil. What a treat! We had a wonderful lunch and some wine then we walked around San Quirico d’Orca. For the grand finally Gianni took us to pieve di corsignano a small church just below Pienza and played flute for us! Thank you Gianni! The Val D’Orca is full of unspoiled beauty! It was great to enjoy it with someone who knows so much about the area. From the beginning it was easy to get in contact with Gianni by e-mail. Just send him a note and he gets right back to you (time difference taken into account).

walk about Italy ( in Tuscany ) for our group of 10 ladies( 2- 9 September 2019), will remain a highlight of my travel experiences: very well organized , to include excellent accommodation, beautiful scenery , superb ( yet simple) local food, great wine, and of course: hiking through picturesque villages and rural areas; all allowed for a deeply enjoyable , fun and at times quite surreal experience. Gianni and Erika ( and all guides) were knowledgeable , entertaining and wise with group dynamics. I would Not Hesitate to do a return tour, to a different area in Italy, and I can Highly recommend that you start saving your hard earned money: this one is worth every cent. Oh: I need to say this: you might come away from this trip slightly heavier ( all the creamy Burrato cheese) , and with a penchant for Aperol spritz! One or two additional beautiful leather bags might just creep into your luggage ..... the record in our group was 5 !!! not mentioning ANY NAMES.

This was trip number two with Gianni. We spent one week with him a few years ago and it was a great experience. We only had time for one day this trip, but it was more of the same - great hike, wonderful food, this time at a winery in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. Gianni is fun to be with and very knowledgable about the local area (he lives nearby in Siena), to say nothing about Italy. We learned a lot about the history and culture and he was very patient with me and my Italian. You have to ask him about the Sienese dialect! Couldn't recommend him and his tours highly enough. The next time we find ourselves in or anywhere near Tuscany, we will go out of our way to spend time with our friend. Gianni, alla prossima!

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our week with Gianni at Walk About Tuscany. His knowledge of the towns and trails, his ability and willingness to adapt the itinerary to our interests and his network of expert collaborators made the experience a delight. If you'd like to experience the sight and tastes of Italy from "ground level," I heartily recommend Walk About Tuscany.

This tour exceeded every expectation and expectations were high when our group of eight women traveled from Nova Scotia to join this hiking tour of Tuscany. Every aspect of this tour - the quality of the food and wine, the way in which the tour was designed, the refreshing hikes through the stunning Tuscan countryside and the quality of the experiences - was nothing short of impeccable. Every place they took us provided an exceptional experience. I am sensitive to gluten and they provided beautiful, nutritious and delicious gluten free options that were often the envy of others at our table. I am in my early 60s and fit and I found the challenge level of the hikes perfect for me - enough to feel that I got a good workout but not so much to have me wanting it to end. Gianni and his team are top notch - friendly, responsive and knowledgable. The whole thing was absolutely superb. I recommend Walk about Italy without hesitation.

Gianni from WALK ABOUT ITALY helped me create a customized trip for my group of 17. We adjusted his itinerary to meet the fitness level of my group so that we would walk 6 to 7 miles per day. There were options for those to shorten the walks or hang out for the day. I wanted to go back to the Amalfi Coast and hike the Path of the Gods as it was rainy and foggy the day I did it six years ago. Again, the weather forecast was rain. Our tour guide, Rosa, was able to rework the schedule which involved moving other tour groups and the restaurants. She was successful in doing so. The walk was magnificent. I must admit my favorite walk was to the summit of Mt. Vesuvius. This was truly spectacular and a must do! This tour had many special features such making a ceramic tile and a massage. The hotels were very nice. We had a room overlooking the mountains and was able to catch a sunrise from our room. The food was very good as well. I particularly enjoyed the organic lunch we had at a new restaurant which was an old paper mill. We had a great time with a lot of laughs! I highly recommend Gianni and his team!

We recently completed our second trip with Walk About Italy and loved the entire experience through Umbria/Le Marche. Gianni and all of the local guides were exceptional and clearly passionate about their local area. We very much enjoy the 'off the beaten path' aspect of Gianni's tours but don't be fooled, he finds awesome accomodations and the food is amazing! We are so glad we found Gianni and Walk About Italy for our Italian adventures - we plan to return again for another tour.
