We had a wonderful Siena & Duomo City Tour with Marella. She was absolutely delightful and very passionate about her beautiful Siena. She shared her incredible wealth of knowledge with all of us with great charm and wit. Marvelous! This was a fantastic tour, and if I had discovered Papilio Tours earlier, I would have very enthusiastically taken more of their tours; and checked out their Tuscan Wine School. Highly highly recommended!

My wife and I were on holiday in Tuscany...we stayed at the terrific Lupaia agriturismo right out side of Montepulciano. We decided to take a day trip to Siena but thought it would be best to hire a tour guide so as to get the most out of our visit. We hired Tuscan Escapes by Papilio Tours for a three hour private tour....to say it was sensational would be an understatement. Amber S. was our guide...it's was more like Prof. Amber...we got a three hour oral history and thorough walking tour of Siena filled with stories, vignettes and many many historical references not only to the city but also to the larger region and Italy as well. Amber was not only informative but articulate, funny and charming. It was truly a highlight of our trip...when we were driving back to Lupaia my wife and I both felt like we had become honorary Sienese citizens !!

We booked the tour by walking into the office and talking with MiΕ‚o. We chatted and drank wine while he was making arrangements for our tour the next day. We had the most amazing private tour with Marella. She picked us up round the corner from our accommodation in Siena, she was on time and the van was easy to find. The first stop was a winery, where the host gave us a very comprehensive tour with wine tasting. Then we went to Monteriggioni, where we had a while to walk around by ourselves. On the way out, Marella stopped at a place by the road that offered wonderful views of the fortress. Next stop was San Gimignano, and we started that part with delicious gelato, then we were given some history of the town and again some free time to roam on our own. The experience ended with a farm to table dinner on a farm surrounded by beautiful Tuscan landscape. The places were beautiful, the food delicious, but the real star of the tour was Marella, our guide. She was knowledgeable, professional and told us many things we hadn't known about Tuscany, but she's also a charming human being, who at the end of the tour felt like a friend.

I can't say enough good things about our tour. Our guide Daniele was a wonderful human with a passion for great wine. His knowledge of the area was supreme as he has a degree with winemaking and personally knows the owners of over 35 of the 250 designated Brunello wineries. Our first winery was Casanuova delle Cerbaie. A smaller boutique winery with a detailed tour and tasting in a private tasting room. Great Super Tuscan, Rosso di Montalcino, and their 2016 Brunello is fantastic. Next we went to the town of Montalcino and walked town. Charming place with more Enotecas than humans. After this short stop, it was off to the picturesque Molino di Sant'Antimo. We had a 3 course meal with the owners while drinking amazing wines on a hill overlooking the valley. This was the highlight of the day for us. Last but not least, we visited Podere le Ripi. Started by one of the Illy grandsons, their buildings are super unique and amazing. The winery rep Yana was from the family that constructs the oak barrels near Austria and we toured the cellars before having a private tasting in the top of the building. We got back to Siena a little later but it was worth every minute.

We had an amazing wine tour in Montalcino, visiting 3 great wineries. Glulliermo (sorry if I misspelled that), our guide, was really fun and has solid knowledge about the history of Tuscany. Lunch at Cava D'Onice was lovely and the view was breathtaking.
