L'opera di Luigi Vanvitelli è al centro: un tabernacolo in legno dorato a forma di piccolo tempio. La Cappella del Sacramento è conosciuta soprattutto per i suoi affreschi pittorici. La cupola è composta da cinque vani, ed ognuno di essi rappresenta una scena biblica che riguarda l'Antico Testamento. È bellissima ed è assolutamente da non perdere. It is considered the most beautiful chapel in the whole Cathedral of Syracuse. The work of Luigi Vanvitelli is in the center: a gilded wooden tabernacle in the shape of a small temple. The Chapel of the Sacrament is best known for its pictorial frescoes. The dome is composed of five rooms, and each of them represents a biblical scene concerning the Old Testament. It is beautiful and absolutely not to be missed.

Il primo spazio, cappella Sveva, conserva vari oggetti della famiglia Sveva e delle loro cerimonie... ma tutte sono spiegate da dei semplici pannelli mentre sarebbe stato molto più interessante sentire le varie informazioni attraverso un'audioguida o dei piccoli schermi a basso volume per non disturbare (da notare che l'unica parte che mi è veramente interessata è stato il video dedicato al corteo di Santa Lucia). Il secondo spazio è anch'esso sfruttato male. A parte il solito problema legato alla mancanza di audio o di immagini visive, la pecca grossissima è la mancanza di poter rivivere ciò che provavano i prigionieri stando in quel luogo. Terzo posto, biblioteca alagoniana, si salva appena. Farei pagare molto di più il biglietto ma investirei decisamente di più su questo museo per poterlo far apprezzare anche ai più giovani Assuming that the cost of the ticket is only one euro, in my opinion the place is badly exploited. The first space, the Sveva chapel, preserves various objects of the Sveva family and their ceremonies ... but all are explained by simple panels while it would have been much more interesting to hear the various information through an audio guide or small low-volume screens for do not disturb (note that the only part that really interested me was the video dedicated to the procession of Santa Lucia). The second space is also badly exploited. Apart from the usual problem related to the lack of audio or visual images, the very big flaw is the lack of being able to relive what the prisoners felt while staying in that place. Third place, the Alagonian library, is barely saved. I would charge a lot more for the ticket but I would definitely invest more in this museum in order to make it appreciated even by the youngest ones

Fu il Vescovo spagnolo di Siracusa, Juan de Torres a volerne la costruzione nel '600 e al suo interno vi si nota un medaglione e lo stemma. Al centro della Cappella, il tabernacolo in legno dorato dell'architetto Luigi Vanvitelli del 1752, nell'altare un paliotto dello scultore fiorentino Filippo Valle del 1763, mentre la balaustra è del palermitano Ignazio Marabitti. La cupola fu dipinta dall'artista messinese Agostino Scilla nel 1657 ed è ripartita in cinque spicchi, contenenti scene dell'Antico Testamento. Also known as the Torres Chapel, it is the most beautiful, artistically, of the Cathedral. It was the Spanish Bishop of Syracuse, Juan de Torres who wanted it to be built in the 17th century and inside you can see a medallion and the coat of arms. At the center of the Chapel, the gilded wooden tabernacle by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli from 1752, in the altar a frontal by the Florentine sculptor Filippo Valle from 1763, while the balustrade is by Ignazio Marabitti from Palermo. The dome was painted by the Messina artist Agostino Scilla in 1657 and is divided into five segments, containing scenes from the Old Testament.
