Storytelling Rome Tours & Walks

I have had the privilege of touring Rome with Massimo as my guide twice. Each time has been, well prepared, well informed, passionate and kind. I look forward to taking all of the tours he offers each time I come to Rome. He is the best of the best ?

Massimo and Storytelling Rome Tours & Walks is so good that we booked him not just once - not just twice - but 3 times for a stay in Rome. We caught his Scarlett Ladies tour in 2017 and really enjoyed it, so much so that we booked him for 2 private tours and a group tour during a return to Rome with friends and family in 2018. I’ve recommended him to several friends and everyone has absolutely loved his tours. He has a different approach than most other guides, focusing on the stories of Rome's fascinating historical personalities. Rome is such a deep well of history, art and architecture that I've become somewhat obsessed about it. But even though I’m very familiar with it and have visited Rome more than a dozen times with stays that last weeks at a time, I still find a really good tour guide to be worthwhile - especially for the more obscure things I am now exploring. But even if you are visiting the top tourist attractions in Rome a well done tour will increase your understanding and enjoyment immensely. Massimo really knows his subjects and by concentrating on the stories of personalities that are part of the history of Rome he makes it really come alive. It's such a fresh approach that even if you are familiar with Rome's layers of history you'll still find yourself learning some new things, laughing and perhaps even crying at nearly the same time with Massimo. For my relatives and friends he made for a great set of experiences in the eternal city. It was a joy to see their eyes being lit up by just some of the tales this city is made of. He's developed some tour themes that I have not seen before such as his "Scarlet Ladies Tour: Powerful Mistresses & Courtesans of Rome”, an era of Roman history where discussion usually focuses on the powerful men of the era. His approach, using the viewpoint of the women of Rome is a different take on it that it will get even the most jaded tourist's attention. We also did the "Emperor's Nighttime Stories" which is a riveting overview of the lives of the Julio-Claudian line of emperors and their families, warts and all. A nighttime tour of the highlights of the Vatican Museum with him was really good too, and much less crowded than daytime tours. My only regret is that they weren't longer! So, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Massimo - you'll love it!

This is the third time I follow one of Massimo’s story telling tours and honestly, I can’t get enough!!! So informative and fun. The subjects he choses are really fascinating and compelling while he, Massimo, is a mesmerising story teller and has a great sense of humour and irony. My friends and I had really a wonderful time. Highly recommended!!!!

Awesome. If my teachers got me this interested in art and history like this tours, i would have probably chosen a different path in life. We got so many cool stories, ancient gossip and on top of that a lot of hints and advices to spots, restaurants and culinarian highlights. Don't miss this on your trip to Rome. We did 3 tours with storytelling Rome and we will book a whole lot more as soon as we return! Thanks a lot!

I did the Roman Empresses Tour with Massimo and it was very entertaining. Massimo is an excellent storyteller and the two hour tour just flew by! Learning about these women and hearing their stories was so interesting. I would highly recommend this tour (and all his tours)!

Loved it! The Storytelling Rome Tours were great. We booked 3. Our guide really made the Stories come to life. Forget Gossip Girl or Bridgerton, here is where you get the real tea ;) We had some other guides from different websites, not half as good. We had a great time with Massimo, who also gives the best advices for restaurants, bars, etc....Making your holiday at Rome really special. Whenever we travel here again, we will make sure to book another Tour and would love to meet again!

Superb! Massimo gets a little twinkle in his eye as he starts each juicy story and he clearly enjoys telling stories as much as I enjoyed listening to them!! Massimo is a natural communicator, he totally brought the history of the places we visited to life and balanced this with relevant and easy to understand facts. He clearly knows his stuff and worked to make it enjoyable and accessible. I can highly recommend and will take more of his tours next time I am in Rome.

Massimo’s storytelling tours are truly impressive! I am on my second experience with him and I can’t stop to be astonished by the research work he did and how he managed to package it all in such a highly entertaining performance. On top of that, the walk took us at some of the best (and perhaps least known) sights of the Palatine hill and the ancient city center, it was the perfect match! For someone who likes to peek into the lives of people that lived centuries ago, these tours have all my praise and recommendations!
