The guide of Rome . What to see in Rome and environs . A guide to the most interesting places in the pagan, Christian and Modern city of Rome A new guide of Rome will seem at first superfluous on account of the many guide – books and web guide have been written on the Eternal City. These books may or web site may, however, be divided into two parts; some very large and excellent works which are masterpieces and most suitable for the few habituΓ©s who spend in Rome a long stay; the others which are the more numerous, may be called catalogues rather than guide-books, as they mention, without calling the attention to the most important ones, nearly all the churches and museums of Rome, some of which are of little or no interest and never visited by the hurried travellers, who form the greatest part of the visitors. They have all the same fault of confusing the visitors, who has but a short time to spare, rather than guiding him through the immense labyrinth of ruins, museums and churches in which Rome is so rich. To fill in this gap is the object of the present work, in which we have attempted, in the best possible way. To give a clear and concise description only of the essential, by choosing what is most interesting in the historical, ecclesiastical and artistic information and giving within a minimum of space, a maximum of useful material. ( to know what to see in Rome) In this choice, we have been guided by the long experience of thirty years of Stefano Donghi as tour guide. In the visits to galleries and churches we have tried to select one work, the most noteworthy, as the object of the attention of the tourist, omitting all really less important sites, from the enumeration of which the visitor will reap any advantage. Information have been carefully collected from the most distinguished Italian and foreign authors, but especially from Stefano Donghi instructions . We hope, with these notes, to have succeeded in enabling visitors to carry away with them a fairly clear acquaintance with this most remarkable city, which has played such an important role in the history of humanity, and we trust this little web/guidebook will be used by tourists not only as a guide but as a reminder to experience Rome in the best way. ROME β€œ This the centre β€œTo which all gravitates. One finds no rest β€œElsewhere than here. There may be other cities β€œ That please us for a while, but Rome alone β€œCompletely satisfies, It becomes to all β€œA second native land by predilection, β€œAnd not by accident of birth alone” LONGFELLOW A poem in a word from which arise a world of recollections. The city of imposing aqueducts, marvellous churches, historical catacombs, beautiful villas innumerable fountains and immense ruins is not only a city but a museum of art and natural beauties. To speak of the interest of a visit to Rome in its historical, archaeological and religious importance seems to be superfluous. The ancient land of the Caesars and of the early Christians, has lost nothing of its fascination and Rome has always an interest that no other city in the world possesses, every inch of its ground, every one of its corners reminding the visitor of some renowned historical event. A visit to this most fascinating

β€œHighlight of our trip” We recently used TourInRome for two half day tours of the Vatican and the Forum in Rome. TourInROme was recommended by our hotel and confirmed through another source. Our guide for the two days was the highlight of our two weeks in Italy. She was so knowledgable and brought so much insight and histroty to the period that the time flew by. We learned about the people and politics of the time as well as took in all the sights. Because she was Italian but had spent many years in the US her english was perfect and yet she was a local which helped navigate the sites.

Walking tour of yesterday was wonderful! We were really blown away with your knowledge and understanding of all that we visited . We had a City Sightseeing over the most important sites of Rome... it is an amazing city! Our tour guide, Roxanne, was great...she did a very good job! We felt very special that even though we were the only two guests, because our tour was a private tour...all our requests were satisfied . We have talked about it all day, and it will be one of our highlights of Italy.TourinRome staff is so great...a special thanks to Giusy, who arranged our stay in Rome. All the best, we will certainly pass Tourinrome name to our friends and family who may travel to Rome. Ciao

Our first tour guide for Colosseum was incredibly knowledgeable and very welcoming. His name was Ferdinando. Amazing and very much recommend. The history was told to us in such a beautiful way that we were reliving it as we toured the building. The reason for my three star rating was because of our second tour guide, Katia. She ruined the rest of our tour with her fake attitude. She knew very little about the palatine hill ruins and could not even relay the message of each place properly. It would have been fine had not she been terribly rude. As a tour guide she needs to inform us of what the tour consists of. My father has a medical condition and she did not inform us that there would be many stairs and climbing, so he chose to stay back in the beginning. She did not even notice he was gone from the group until we were halfway done (even though he informed ALL of us and her right before) and she chose to be very vocal about how we will not be ending at the same place we started. Again, had she informed us, we would have thought of options. Our first tour guide was very considerate about everyone’s needs and disabilities. She had told us that at the end, we would need to follow her to meet my father at the beginning of the first tour place (30 min walk from the beginning of the second tour). Alas, at the end she could not even wait five minutes for my father to return his radio and she left us stranded somewhere in the middle to run to her next tour and we had to find a way back to my father and then give the radio to one of the stations along the roads. She also did the same mistreatment to another family in our group.

Rome in two days Tour with Tour in Rome!!!! My husband and I had booked this tour and honestly it was the right way to see the BEST of Rome in only 2 days. The drivers, staff and guides were extremely helpful and friendly. Everything went perfectly and we were also provided with excellent recommendations for real authentic local restaurants off the beaten path. Our tour guide Sergio was hilarious and made us feel relaxed and comfortable and brought us to the best place for gelato and we enjoyed one of the most authentic cafe's in Rome for an amazing espresso. This tour was one of the best tours we have experienced in our travels. Informative and exciting. Highly recommend!!!
