This area is called "Necropoli delle Grotticelle" and is characterized by the presence of numerous graves both from the Sicilian, Greek and Roman periods. The first two are "pit", while the third are "chamber". Among the latter there is a particularly striking one which presents the entrance decorated with a tympanum carved into the rock. This led to the equation "most beautiful tomb = most important Syracusan" ... and therefore to Archimedes. But this is just a legend. The place where the real one is located is still unknown.

Not Archimedes' actual grave, which has been lost, but an ancient and historic site nonetheless.

Spoiler alert: Archimedes was … burried there, says the tablet of the archeological ministry.

Amazing historical site but closed from Teatro Greco. Walking along the road to look at it it's clear, like many parts round here, it's just left to rot. Very disappointing.

This site is a joke! Do NOT pay to see the tomb if this is your main interest in the park. There is no actual tomb but rather just a small excavation site and a small sign that says Archimedes' grave is said to be here but actually isn't. For this you walk about 15 minutes one way.

Wanted to see it so that I can say that I did. Unfortunately, there's not much to see. However, the walk to and from the Tomb are nothing short of spectacular
