★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dal greco "Gala", bianco, ed "Ermia", sorgente, si ricava l'origine del nome dell'acquedotto. Fu costruito dai Greci intorno al V secolo a.C. per rifornire di acqua potabile la Epipolis di Siracusa ed è costituito da una galleria scavata nella roccia calcarea bianca.
Il visitatore può sentire lo scroscio dell'acquedotto Galermi, al di sopra della cavea del Teatro Greco, dopo che l'acqua ha percorso sottoterra canali vecchi di 25 secoli.
L'acquedotto è ancora oggi perfettamente funzionante e utilizzato.
From the Greek "Gala", white, and "Ermia", source, we derive the origin of the name of the aqueduct. It was built by the Greeks around the 5th century BC. to supply the Epipolis of Syracuse with drinking water and consists of a tunnel dug into the white limestone rock.
The visitor can hear the roar of the Galermi aqueduct, above the auditorium of the Greek Theater, after the water has crossed 25-century-old channels underground.
The aqueduct is still fully functional and used today.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ C'è un sentiero favoloso proprio seguendo il tracciato dell'acquedotto. Un percorso urbano tutto da esplorare. Chissà se i siracuani lo conoscono, io l' ho scoperto per caso.
There is a fabulous path just following the route of the aqueduct. An urban path to be explored. Who knows if the Syracuans know it, I discovered it by chance.
