The small synagogue, located inside a 16th century building, was modernized in 1824; the temple was built on the top floor of the building, as the synagogues were not to have anything above it, except the sky.

O	Oronzo Cosola on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Non ero assolutamente a conoscenza dell'usanza dei quartieri ebrei a Milano come a Venezia ed a Mantova, di concentrarsi in quartieri poco espansi, ma con palazzi anche di 5 piani e.con la Sinagoga posta sempre nel piano più alto e sempre molto illuminata. Anche a Sabbioneta la comunità si riuniva in questa tipica sala al terzo piano con grandi finestroni. I was absolutely unaware of the custom of the Jewish neighborhoods in Milan as in Venice and Mantua, to concentrate in little expanded neighborhoods, but with buildings even of 5 floors and with the Synagogue always placed on the highest floor and always very illuminated. Also in Sabbioneta the community gathered in this typical room on the third floor with large windows.

Obbligo di mettere il kippah per gli uomini. Della vecchia sinagoga era stata conservata l'Arca Sacra ora trasferita a Gerusalemme. Intorno all'edificio vi era un gruppo di case abitate da ebrei.Il Tempio venne realizzato negli ultimi piani dell'edificio per rispettare il precetto per il quale tutte le sinagoghe devono trovarsi sotto la volta celeste e non devono avere nulla al di sopra se non il cielo.
