★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mausoleo probabilmente costruito dalla famiglia dei Cornelii, rimasto intatto nei secoli, poi diventato di proprietà dei Barberini. Per secoli utilizzato come magazzino. Visitabile all'interno solo su autorizzazione.
Mausoleum probably built by the Cornelii family, remained intact over the centuries, then became the property of the Barberini. For centuries used as a warehouse. It can be visited inside only with authorization.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Della famiglia nobile porta solo il nome essendo stato tra i suoi possedimenti ma il sepolcro ha una storia molto più antica. Visitabile dopo ampio restauro (e ancora inaccessibile nell'ipogeo se non in eventi speciali), ha subito nel tempo rimaneggiamenti e cambi di destinazione (usato come fienile, pensate un po') oltre alla razzia del sarcofago (ora ai musei vaticani). Un incendio ne ha distrutto i pavimenti e le scale e compromesso gli affreschi di cui qualcosa sopravvive nella volta decorata. L'ipogeo coi suoi mosaici e le celle per le sepolture è veramente molto bello. Guardate le foto e le altre recensioni su Roma e le sue meraviglie che ho fatto.
Of the noble family it bears only the name having been among its possessions but the tomb has a much older history. It can be visited after extensive restoration (and still inaccessible in the hypogeum except in special events), over time it has undergone alterations and changes of destination (used as a barn, just think) in addition to the raiding of the sarcophagus (now in the Vatican museums). A fire destroyed the floors and stairs and compromised the frescoes of which something survives in the decorated vault. The hypogeum with its mosaics and burial cells is really very beautiful.
