The staircase leads to the Carmelite church. Very beautiful and suggestive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The walk up to the Higher Castle gives great views of Marostica and the countryside beyond.
Watch out though that it is very steep and there is a path rather than steps. I went in winter and found the path slippery on descent due to my rubbish footwear!
