Visita consigliata
It is one of the countless places of worship that crowd the city of Rome, and that make it a unique tourist destination unique in the world. This small church, for example, has a centuries-old history, having been consecrated by Pope Innocent II in 1139, as reported by a stone on the right of the entrance. San Filippo Neri, prelate friend of Carlo Borromeo, famous for his teachings and for the establishment in 1552 of the "Tour of the Seven Churches" as a path of devotion for the pilgrim, was consecrated a priest in this very church. Around 1582, the church was rebuilt by Francesco da Volterra; today it is the seat of the Eritrean Coptic Christian community. Recommended visit

The church has ancient origins, but the first documented reference dates from 1139, when Pope Innocent II consecrated it. It is certain, however, that it was a reconsecration after the reconstruction or expansion of some previous church on the site. In 1449, Pope Nicholas V ceded the church to the Roman Curia Company of Clerks and Copyists. St. Philip Néri was ordained a priest in this church in 1551.
