San Gregorio is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed in my entire life. My friends and I stayed there for a week while visiting Rome. Not only is the church breathtaking, but the rooms are neat and clean. We were a group of women traveling together, and we felt very safe here. The location is fantastic, so near the Roman forum and the Colosseum. A metro station is just a few blocks away. Giving this place five stars is a no brainer. The next time I’m in Rome, I’d love to just stop by because it was such a wonderful experience.

Saint Mother Teresa's room when she came to Rome. Everything is relic!! Wonderful and 'Godful' simplicity!!

Beautiful church with magnificent frescoes and a wonderful 13th-century Cosmatesque floor.

This Benedictine monastery is worth visiting. It is not open every day so you might want to check ahead. For Anglicans, this site is significant because it is from here that Pope Gregory the Great sent Augustine of Canterbury to evangelize the English. This place is welcoming of Anglican groups and will make arrangements for visits.

It looked a bended church. The building is truly marvellous. And everything around. You can see a beautiful line of pine trees. Which gives a nice freshness to the ambient.

+JMJ....History! History! History! wonderfully preserved in this Church. Had the blessing of staying in the guest rooms connected to this Church, March 2007. The room was very clean, had a lovely view over the Monastery gardens, very affordable. No eatery was attached, but there were plenty places to eat in the area. The Arch of Constantine is nearby. The Church is not too far from the Coliseum and many other ancient Roman sights. And, though it was a distance from St Peter's Basilica, the Metro was not too far a walk. There is much that fascinated me about this Church whose administrators are Benedictine monks. But, one above all is the preservation of the marble chair used by St Gregory the Great, 6th century Pope, responsible for sending missionaries to England. This friend of Jesus, God/Man, was a compassionate spiritual father to many, particularly the spiritually and materially poor.

The Church is a typical baroque Church, however with the stairs leading to a courtyard first, and then you enter the church. It is closed but when ringing a bell it can be visited. The fassade and courtyard are actually more interesting than the church itself. A monastery is still attached to the building, it seems they sell home made products such as soap, oil and herbal tea, but it was not very clear to me. Very nicely located between circo massimo and colosseum, on a low hill, nice in the evening light
