Mention spéciale au coucher de soleil qui offre un spectacle particulier sur cette façade impressionnante, symbole de la puissance de Rome s'étant développé autrefois sur le Palatin. Volute da Diocleziano, costruite da Settimio severo e completate da Massenzio, restituiscono oggi belle strutture sopravvissute perché interrate ma che sono capolavori di ingegneria idraulica, collegate come erano con l'acquedotto neroniano. Ci si arriva costeggiando il Palatino e scendendo dalla vigna Barberini. The Septizonium, built under the rule of Septimius Severus (193 – 211 A.D.), dedicated in 203, and completely destroyed under Pope Sixtus V in 1588, is considered one of the most important monuments of ancient Rome.
