There are so many amazing churches in Rome that it is easy to become apathetic to visiting another random church. Although every once in a while, one of those random church's will absolutely mesmerize you. This was one of those random churches...

β β β β β In the heart of Rome, a stone's throw from the Ara Pacis, symbol of peace of the Emperor Augustus Caesar, stands one of the most beautiful churches dedicated to the saint. Saint Jerome of the Croatians.
As well as St. Jerome, Pope Sixtus V, who commissioned the building of the church, was of Balkan origins, almost as if to pay homage to his own roots.
Today, the Croatian tradition is preserved by Father Marko Δurin, vice-rector of the Croatian Pontifical College of St. Jerome.
Inside the church, among the many treasures are three frescoes by Giovanni Guerra, representing different moments in the life of the saint.
