Fu proprio durante i lavori di costruzione di questo palazzo che vennero alla luce alcuni tratti delle mura che sostenevano le gradinate e una consistente porzione delle strutture radiali del maenianum ( in realtà già nel 1880, grazie agli studi di Castelfranco, si era venuti a conoscenza di alcuni resti del teatro conservati nei sotterranei di alcuni palazzi della zona). Notevoli sono anche le visibili tracce lasciate dai pali di quercia che furono utilizzati per bonificare e consolidare il terreno prima della costruzione del teatro. I resti di questa importante struttura sono oggi visibili grazie a uno splendido lavoro di restauro effettuato nel palazzo della Borsa, con l'inserimento nei sotterranei di alcuni pavimenti trasparenti che permettono di "camminare" al di sopra delle antiche strutture romane. In the basement of the Palazzo della Borsa you can admire the remains of the Roman theater in Milan. It was during the construction of this building that some sections of the walls that supported the steps and a substantial portion of the radial structures of the maenianum came to light (in reality, already in 1880, thanks to the studies of Castelfranco, it was known that some remains of the theater preserved in the basement of some buildings in the area). Also noteworthy are the visible traces left by the oak poles that were used to reclaim and consolidate the ground before the construction of the theater. The remains of this important structure are now visible thanks to a splendid restoration work carried out in the Palazzo della Borsa, with the insertion in the basement of some transparent floors that allow you to "walk" above the ancient Roman structures.

Mi sono accordata con le guide della camera di commercio, in via San Vittore al teatro, per partecipare ad una interessantissima visita ai resti del teatro romano. Ho incontrato personale davvero competente che ha saputo attirare l'attenzione di tutti gli ospiti e ho visto i resti di quello che rimane del teatro, ben curati e conservati. Abbiamo prenotato la visita gratuita attraverso la Camera di Commercio di Milano, luogo dove si trovano parte dei resti del Teatro Romano. Abbiamo visitato il sito insieme alla bravissima archeologa nonché guida turistica della Camera di Commercio, dottoressa Federica Grassi. Attraverso di lei abbiamo meglio compreso come duemila anni fa, nel cuore di Milano, sorgeva un teatro imponente. Oggi i suoi resti, coprono un'area di circa 450 mq e sono custoditi appunto all'interno della Camera di commercio che, in accordo con la Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici della Lombardia, offre la possibilità al pubblico di visitarli, su prenotazione, all'interno di Palazzo Turati, sede storica dell'ente camerale. Possibile ripercorre la storia di questo magnifico teatro, distrutto purtroppo definitivamente da Federico Barbarossa durante il saccheggio del 1162 d.C. Un percorso di odori, suoni e immagini consente di "rivivere" l'esperienza dell'antica Roma e durante la visita, per chi studia latino vi anche è la possibilità di ascoltare versi in lingua latina recitati dal grande Giorgio Albertazzi. We booked the free visit through the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, where there are part of the remains of the Roman Theater. We visited the site together with the talented archaeologist and tourist guide of the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Federica Grassi. Through her we have better understood how an imposing theater stood in the heart of Milan two thousand years ago. Today his remains cover an area of about 450 square meters and are kept in the Chamber of Commerce which, in agreement with the Superintendency for Archaeological Heritage of Lombardy, offers the public the possibility to visit them, by reservation, at inside of Palazzo Turati, historic seat of the Chamber of Commerce. Possible to retrace the history of this magnificent theater, unfortunately destroyed definitively by Federico Barbarossa during the looting of 1162 AD A path of smells, sounds and images allows us to "relive" the experience of ancient Rome and during the visit, for those who study Latin there is also the possibility of listening to verses in Latin recited by the great Giorgio Albertazzi.
