In the tiny medieval hill town of Monteriggioni, just passed the main square - we were directed there by a flyer offering to cover €2 of our parking fee for eating there. I must say the food was lovely, and all three of us enjoyed the meal. The size of the lasagna was a little small and there was nothing else to garnish it (small salad perhaps?), but the taste / quality was excellent. My only other gripe was that my meal could have been a bit warmer, but it wasn’t too cold to eat.
The restaurant also offers the opportunity to watch them make the pasta on site and, whilst we missed the main demonstration, the manager was happy to talk about the process and answer my questions. I had spaghetti which was ‘I pici’ and found out it was made of just flour and water - no egg. This dated back to WW2 when people didn’t have eggs to cook with. The spaghetti was thicker than normal but beautifully cooked. Prices were reasonable and I would recommend a visit. Thanks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Charming place with beautiful back garden filled with birds in the fall. They grind the grains to make flour for their own pasta which is interesting, although the dishes we ordered fell short in taste compared to Italian cuisine. They have the location, would work a bit on the kitchen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Husband and I decided to venture off the Beaten Path and head to some places we'd only seen on youtube. We were very happy with this decision. First we checked into the hotel Piccolo Castello, then were recommended a wonderful wine tasting location, Castello Di Monteriggioni. The hotel offered to make dinner reservations at the da Remo. Service was perfect, food was even better. My husband and I couldn't stop eating. He had the rabbit I had the slow roasted pork. So happy we made the stop! Another town that is underrated and over performed!
