Beautiful! This is one of the many bridges of Venice. This bridge offers a good view of the Ponte dei Sospiri (Sospiri Bridge) and the Canonica river. This is located next to Palazzo Ducale (Ducale Palace). This bridge is very beautiful and interesting.

From Ponte della Paglia is a bridge in Venice, Italy. The Street Lamp in Venice Venezia, the evening is now come and the fog almost dissolved, now it's up to them, the Venetian lamps, reflect their beauty on the water, they are hexagonal lamps, in wrought iron, typical of Venetian research.

Great place to take photos and take in the scenery of gondolas coming and going. Big Plus, they have a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs. I wish Rialto Bridge had an accessible ramp. Definitely would make it more tourist friendly.

Nobody really pays too much attention to Challenge bridge number five, this bridge, the Ponte della Paglia, yet almost every single visitor to Venice pauses on it to get a view of the iconic and legendary Ponte dei Sospiri ( Bridge of Sighs ), the staple of every package tour itinerary that visits the city. Quite ironic, won't you say? The Ponte della Paglia's name refers to boats filled with straw that passed by here during the time when horses and donkeys were still part of everyday life in Venice. The Ponte della Paglia is the bridge that bridges the Canal Rio di Palazzo on the border of the Sestiere San Marco and Castello, and is located a little further from the Doge's Palace and connects the Piazzetta with the Riva degli Schiavoni. The current structure dates from 1847, and the original structure was built in 1360. The original structure was the oldest stone bridge in Venice. The centre of the bridge offers an excellent view of the famous Bridge of Sighs, which incidentally isn't one of the 100 Venice Bridges Challenge since it is only accessible from inside the Doge's Palace, a building which the bridge connects to the old prison next door. Interesting thiks is that the bridge is the subject of a painting by Maurice Prendergast, the original artwork being part of the Phillips Collection. Casanova references the bridge in his memoirs as a place where he meets a woman whose life he had saved before.

This bridge has a great view of the iconic bridge of sighs, however because of this the bridge can be quite busy and crowded. Besides this it a beautiful bridge itself and serves its purpose.

Very picturesque location, but the story of the Bridge of Sighs is pretty cool too! There are probably 1000s of pics of this bridge, but mine came out pretty nice .. @we.explore.everywhere
