On the day of the appointment we went to the police station to request new passports. The boys and girls of the office in charge of the practice were kind and courteous and everything was done in the best way respecting the timing of the appointment.

Gentilissimi, rapidi, umani.
Very kind, quick, human. It is a pity that servants of the state so willing to the citizens have to work in old and poorly maintained premises. The agent of P.S. who collected my complaint - for vandalism against my car - almost apologized for not being able to carry out more checks against the criminals. A dutiful thanks for the availability.

Helpful maybe with italians. With foreigners it's the most dificult case I have ever seen. Not only that your "appuntamento" is not valid, so you have to come preferably half an hour before they open and then wait for your turn. If you are lucky, the machine won't "get broken" and you will finish your stuff. If, on the contrary, they find your case super strange just because you did additional master course in the university different from the previous one, than you will go around questura's and get your document after 1 year. Not mentioning that for 1 year accordingly you cannot travel anywhere but your home country; not mentioning that you have been living there for five years. Yes, just because one man found strange that you are ambitious in your career, I have waited for my permesso for one year. But very helpful indeed.

Impressive. If I could give a zero star I would, waited for like 4hrs just to pick up the residence permit, officers are careless in general, also don’t speak English. The guy in the apartment of immigration never tried to explain you something, he’ll just say everything in Italian and then “I don’t speak English it’s finished go “

Whenever I apply for permesso di soggiorno, the post office gives me the appuntamento minimum after 3 months. then I get my permit approximately in total of 5 months. In order to avoid it this time (especially after my flatmate applied in 1st of may and the same post office gave her the appointment in this questura to OCTOBER), I applied in the end of MAY from the same post office. I filed the kit, gave all the documents and paid 110 euros. They gave me the ricevuta, however surprise surprise, my appuntamento was given to 5th of july. Which is a bit early I admit but after that I was going back home and I, for once, didn’t want to waste half of my permit. But I guess you can never win if you are a foreigner in Italy :) They tell me that my application was too early, they cancel it, they tell me I shouldn’t have applied. I don’t understand why the post office would give me an appointment to begin with if it was this illegal. I go to the post office and ask them, they tell me it’s the rule of the questura, they know nothing about. What is sadder is I have many friends in Milan, living here for more than 5 years, who have applied earlier than 60 days of the expiration date, however this never happened to anyone of them. Even now, a friend that had applied with me with the same expiration date, in a different questura gets his appointment postponed 3 times, and can apply for the renewal of the permesso di soggiorno 90 days before his expiration. Here I am, will have to apply again in the beginning of september, pay 110 euros again for nothing, and receive my permesso in January. I honestly don’t understand how there is no technological system among these institutes, or no communication between them. I am amazed how I am the one coming from a 3rd world country.

This is surely the worst place on Earth when it comes to how the foreigners are treated; Italy should be ashamed. After 9 years of studying, living and working in Italy, apparently I haven’t deserved still to be treated as a human! Things that can be done smoothly with respect in any other police station both in Italy and abroad, here simply take more than 3-4 hours of waiting and multiple visits, and if i have to simply just bring one additional document that hasn’t even been requested in the first place, forces me to take the day off from work as they are extremely slow and at the same time very very rude and disrespectful. I don’t even wanna begin talking about the fact that I, by all rules applied in other similar places and by the instructions from Camera di Lavoro, have deserved the right to apply for Carta di Soggiorno for which I have been OF COURSE refused. If you are a foreigner and have any possibility to solve your problems anywhere else but here please do it.
