L'unica nota negativa è che , essendo il posto sperduto, dovrebbe esserci un'indicazione chiara in cui si dice che il tratto finale si può fare esclusivamente a piedi. Sono titolare di un agriturismo e una famiglia belga con figli piccoli ha avuto una disavventura dovuta a questo fatto. Il marito ha imboccato la strada indicata dal cartello , ad un certo punto non era più percorribile e si é trovato con la macchina bloccata, con il cellulare con scarso segnale. The place is very beautiful. The only negative is that, being the place lost, there should be a clear indication in which it is said that the final stretch can only be done on foot. I am the owner of a farm and a Belgian family with young children has had a mishap due to this fact. The husband took the road indicated by the sign, at a certain point it was no longer viable and he found himself with the car blocked, with a cell phone with little signal.
A	Alessio Guiggi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dedicata a San Giovanni Battista, questa Pieve venne edificata in stile romanico intorno all’anno Mille vicino all’omonimo castello, che fu anche sede di un libero comune. Ha un campanile a vela che si innalza su di un lato della facciata ed è costruita interamente con le bianca roccia calcarea del vicino Poggio Casalone. Nel medioevo fu un centro molto vitale per l’estesa Diocesi di Volterra poiché si affacciava sull’importante Via del Sale che congiungeva le saline di Volterra con la Val d’Elsa e Firenze. Di proprietà privata e quindi non accessibile, oggi se ne possono ammirare solamente le forme esterne, circostanza comunque non da poco considerando il grave stato di abbandono in cui versano molti edifici storici rurali. Pesa molto tuttavia l'asportazione del grande arco a 13 conci decorati che sovrastava il portale d'ingresso e che oggi è conservato presso il Museo d'Arte Sacra di Volterra. Dedicated to San Giovanni Battista, this parish church was built in Romanesque style around the year 1000 near the castle of the same name, which was also the seat of a free municipality. It has a bell gable that rises on one side of the facade and is built entirely with the white limestone of the nearby Poggio Casalone. In the Middle Ages it was a very vital center for the extensive Diocese of Volterra as it overlooked the important Via del Sale that connected the salt pans of Volterra with the Val d’Elsa and Florence. Privately owned and therefore not accessible, today only the external forms can be admired, a fact that is no small feat considering the serious state of neglect of many historic rural buildings. However, the removal of the large arch with 13 decorated ashlars that overlooked the entrance portal and which today is kept at the Museum of Sacred Art in Volterra weighs a lot.
