M	Magnus (Mag) on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ chiesa del 1200, di origine conventuale a navata unica e amplio coro absidale. l' antica struttura medioevale persiste in parte nel chiostro dove è possibile vedere il bellissimo affresco di Tommaso da Modena di San Martino ritrovato sotto l' intonaco a seguito di lavori di restauro. la chiesa venne rimaneggiata intorno alla fine del sedicesimo secolo e successivamente ospiterà gli splendidi affreschi di Mattia Preti e opere di Ludovico Lana purtroppo verso gli anni 80 un parroco ha avuto la pessima idea di rimuovere un pilastro vicino all' ingresso principale della chiesa, sul lato sinistro, per creare una cappella battesimale per la funzione di chiesa parrocchiale appena assunta dalla chiesa. purtroppo la perdita del pilastro ha compromesso la struttura della chiesa che ad ogni scossa sismica anche lieve viene costantemente chiusa per numerosi anni e necessari restauri e consolidamenti. ad oggi è ancora chiusa a seguito del terremoto del 2012. la parrocchia è stata formalmente accorpata a quella del Tempio nel 2018, così la chiesa torna pienamente nelle mani del comune di modena di cui è proprietà. ps posso capire che sia chiusa per motivi di restauro e consolidamento e per tanto non sia facile visitarla, ma affermare che sia brutta e vecchia è da capre e ignoranti, semmai è un gioiello dell' architettura modenese ricca di storia e di opere malamente gestite da chi di dovere. ma da li a disprezzarla vuol dire proprio che si è degli imbecilli. church of 1200, of conventual origin with a single nave and a large apse choir. the ancient medieval structure persists in part in the cloister where it is possible to see the beautiful fresco by Tommaso da Modena of San Martino found under the plaster following restoration works. the church was remodeled around the end of the sixteenth century and later will host the splendid frescoes by Mattia Preti and works by Ludovico Lana Unfortunately, towards the 80's a parish priest had the bad idea of removing a pillar near the main entrance of the church, on the left side, to create a baptismal chapel for the function of the parish church just taken over by the church. unfortunately the loss of the pillar has compromised the structure of the church which is constantly closed for many years with every seismic shock, even if slight, and necessary restorations and consolidations. to date it is still closed following the earthquake of 2012. the parish was formally merged with that of the temple in 2018, so the church is fully returned to the municipality of modena of which it is owned. ps I can understand that it is closed for restoration and consolidation reasons and therefore it is not easy to visit it, but to say that it is ugly and old is for goats and ignorant, if anything it is a jewel of Modenese architecture rich in history and poorly managed works by who is responsible. but from there to despise it really means that one is an imbecile.
