★ ★ ★ ★ ★ corpo interno del palazzo fu realizzato tra il 1775 e il 1778 su progetto dell'architetto Carlo Felice Soave, originario di Lugano su incarico di Antonio Anguissola.
Nel 1817 il conte Anguissola vendette il suo palazzo a un esponente della borghesia milanese, l'avvocato Giovanni Battista Traversi, che nel 1829 incaricò l'architetto ticinese Luigi Canonica di realizzarne il corpo anteriore affacciato su via Manzoni. Il Canonica progettò il prospetto con lesene e capitelli corinzi, lo scalone d'onore di Palazzo Anguissola e il chiostro quadrato.
Negli anni Novanta del Novecento è stato operato un restauro dell'edificio a opera degli architetti Valle, Broggi e Burckhardt, con un recupero dei decori in oro, degli stucchi e dei gessi.
Il chiostro, ora completamente chiuso da una vetrata, ospita da alcuni anni il Disco in forma di rosa del deserto di Arnaldo Pomodoro.
Da novembre 2011 parte dell'edificio è sede delle Gallerie di Piazza Scala, che comprendono anche il vicino Palazzo Brentani.
the internal body of the building was built between 1775 and 1778 on a project by the architect Carlo Felice Soave, originally from Lugano on behalf of Antonio Anguissola.
In 1817 Count Anguissola sold his palace to an exponent of the Milanese bourgeoisie, the lawyer Giovanni Battista Traversi, who in 1829 commissioned the Ticino architect Luigi Canonica to build the front building overlooking Via Manzoni. The Canonica designed the façade with pilasters and Corinthian capitals, the grand staircase of Palazzo Anguissola and the square cloister.
In the 1990s, the building was restored by the architects Valle, Broggi and Burckhardt, with a recovery of the gold decorations, stuccoes and plaster casts.
The cloister, now completely closed by a glass window, has for some years hosted the Disco in the form of a desert rose by Arnaldo Pomodoro.
Since November 2011, part of the building has housed the Galleries of Piazza Scala, which also include the nearby Palazzo Brentani.
