Luogo documentato e cantato da pittori e poeti lontani, in realtà l'Organo di Eolo / Arpa Eoliana, non è altro che un calidarium di età romana, riscoperto per caso negli anni ’80, quando vennero eseguiti i lavori per la creazione e il tracciamento della strada adiacente che porta nella località di Pianogreca. Secondo gli archeologi il sito era una piccola sala termale dove a causa del vento che penetrando nell’ intercapedine sotto il pavimento e nei tubi della stufa, emetteva un effetto musicale che ricordava il suono di un organo o un arpa che la leggenda e i liparesi hanno chiamato per l'appunto Organo di Eolo o Arpa Eoliana.
Jean Pierre Houel, pittore francese del 1700, documentò dipingendo il suo “Viaggio pittoresco alle isole Eolie” con delle bellissime tavole l’esistenza di questo organo.(oggi nell’ Hermitage di Leningrado in Russia).

A place documented and sung by distant painters and poets, in reality the Organ of Aeolus / Aeolian Harp, is nothing more than a calidarium of the Roman age, rediscovered by chance in the 1980s, when the works for the creation and tracing were carried out of the adjacent road that leads to the town of Pianogreca. According to the archaeologists, the site was a small thermal room where due to the wind that penetrated into the cavity under the floor and into the pipes of the stove, it emitted a musical effect that resembled the sound of an organ or a harp that the legend and the Liparians have called precisely Organ of Aeolus or Aeolian Harp.
Jean Pierre Houel, a French painter of the 1700s, documented the existence of this organ by painting his "Picturesque Journey to the Aeolian Islands" with beautiful panels (today in the Leningrad Hermitage in Russia).
