Come hanno sottolineato in molti, le modalità di visita sono davvero ideali, con la possibilità per il visitatore di entrare e ammirare i resti in totale autonomia, richiudendo poi la porta. Non aspettatevi un tour infinito, la visita si esaurisce in un quarto d'ora virca, ma è cmq interessante, merito del mosaico pavimentale pregevole e di un'area corredata da esaustivi pannelli . Not easy to identify, the site is located in via Varrone 30 and is accessible with a common Asti Card (10 euros). As many have pointed out, the ways to visit are really ideal, with the possibility for the visitor to enter and admire the remains in total autonomy, then closing the door. Do not expect an endless tour, the visit runs out in a quarter of an hour, but it is interesting, thanks to the valuable mosaic floor and an area complete with exhaustive panels.

Si acquista lo smart ticket a prezzo molto abbordabile (gratis con la tessera Musei Piemonte) e si possono visitare diversi musei e una torre. La Domus Romana è difficile da trovare ma con l'aiuto di Google maps, si risolve il problema. È comunque interessante da vedere. It is a complementary place to visit but it is very small as an environment. You buy the smart ticket at a very affordable price (free with the Piemonte Museums card) and you can visit several museums and a tower. The Domus Romana is difficult to find but with the help of Google maps, the problem is solved. It is still interesting to see.

Il mosaico, di una qualità unica per il Piemonte, che decorava il pavimento del triclinium, ossia la sala da pranzo dell'abitazione di una famiglia di ceto agiato. I ceti più abbienti hanno costruito le loro abitazioni in questa zona presumibilmente per via della vicinanza all’area pubblica del Foro. La Domus era non solo bella e raffinata ma testimonianza sono i frammenti di intonaco colorato che rendevano i muri più impermeabili ed esteticamente gradevoli, ma era dotata di tutti i comfort dell’epoca: infatti possedeva anche una specie di “riscaldamento a pavimento”. Si possono vedere dei pilastrini, appartenenti a un sistema di riscaldamento chiamato “a ipocausto” (letteralmente: “brucio sotto”, in greco antico). I pilastrini servivano per realizzare un’intercapedine al di sotto del pavimento, in cui veniva fatta passare l’aria calda grazie all’azione di un forno.
