★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una storia tormentata da vedere....costituito da quattro colonne che reggono un’aquila di bronzo, posto nella rotonda del Viale Edoardo Porro. Inaugurato nel 1921.
Il primo monumento aveva l’aquila ad ali spiegate, che fu quasi subito sostituita da un’aquila poggiante su un fascio, a sua volta tolta nel 1941 per utilizzo del bronzo ai fini bellici. Rimasto senza aquila, il monumento fu completato con l’aquila ad ali chiuse e inaugurato il 4 novembre 1953.
Al cimitero, davanti alla Chiesa di S. Maria Segreta vi era il Parco delle Rimembranze, opera dell’architetto Pietro Portaluppi, completato nel 1923. Non resta molto, se non la struttura e non vi è traccia di cippi: una lapide, ormai quasi illeggibile, con i caduti della Grande Guerra, è posta sul muro d’ingresso. Donato Gramegna di origini pugliesi ha fatto il monumento ai caduti di Mombello ma nel 1921 Pietro De Tomasi di Cassano Valcuvia era stato preferito al Gramegna per il monumento di Laveno. Il Gramegna molto deluso cominciò a denigrare il monumento fino a quando dopo la salita al potere di Mussolini ottenne di rifare il monumento (anche perché il De Tomasi era socialista anche se “ moderato”) con un fascio littorio negli artigli dell’aquila.
Il comune di Laveno Mombello è costituito nel 1927, riunendo Laveno con Mombello Lago Maggiore e Cerro Lago Maggiore: popolazione 1911 presente 2344 residente 2446
 A tormented story to see .... consisting of four columns holding a bronze eagle, located in the roundabout of Viale Edoardo Porro. Opened in 1921.
The first monument had an eagle with spread wings, which was almost immediately replaced by an eagle resting on a beam, which was in turn removed in 1941 for use of bronze for war purposes. Left without an eagle, the monument was completed with an eagle with closed wings and inaugurated on November 4, 1953.
At the cemetery, in front of the Church of S. Maria Segreta, there was the Parco delle Rimembranze, the work of the architect Pietro Portaluppi, completed in 1923. Not much remains, if not the structure and there is no trace of stones: a tombstone, now almost illegible, with the fallen of the Great War, is placed on the entrance wall. Donato Gramegna of Apulian origins made the monument to the fallen of Mombello but in 1921 Pietro De Tomasi of Cassano Valcuvia was preferred to Gramegna for the monument of Laveno. The very disappointed Gramegna began to denigrate the monument until after Mussolini's rise to power he obtained the monument to be redone (also because De Tomasi was a socialist even if "moderate") with a fasces in the eagle's talons.
The municipality of Laveno Mombello was established in 1927, bringing together Laveno with Mombello Lago Maggiore and Cerro Lago Maggiore: population 1911 present 2344 resident 2446
