Awful service here in Verona! For any ex pats reading this, this company is nothing like the GLS back in the UK. Service is painfully slow and packages often arrive 2/3 days late without warning, but always with more excuses than a politician! The online tracking system is extremely slow and unreliable, especially if tracking a package arriving from abroad. When packages do arrive, upon ringing my intercom and hearing me answer, the delivery driver runs back to his van, leaving the package on the floor, not allowing me to inspect it for damage or sign for it-funnily enough though, my packages are always shown signed for me??? I had to laugh, as I saw on their website recently, that due to covid19, the driver will not have any contact with his/her customers and won't require a signature - so nothing new there then! Where possible, even if it costs more, I now use other carriers and I even avoid buying online with shops that solely use GLS Italia.

Atrocious service. Having to deal with them is an absolute nightmare. I've recently begun avoiding businesses that rely on them for shipment. Packages are rarely on time, addresses are conveniently "impossible to find", they do not send updates of any sort when there are issues, the packages that do make it are often damaged and left at the door without you signing for them or being given the chance to verify their state... Customer service is appalling. I once called during office hours on a normally inactive day to unblock a package (after finding out through my own initiative where it was being held) and the phone range for 10 minutes straight without being answered, until I finally hung up. If your package is being handled by this carrier, you can be sure you or your customers won't get it.

I had read all of these negative reviews, so when i had tracked my package and discovered it was held up the last 2 days and needed "additional address information" I got worried! There were so many reviews about unhelpful and incompetent staff (and even a lack of response at all when calling in) at the local Verona office. But to my happy surprise we found the local customer service number through a Google search and a staff member helped us out immediately. And the package was delivered the very next day. indeed it was the fault of the shop I ordered from--they omitted the number of our palazzo! I only removed 1 star as GLS didn't call my contact number to try and update the delivery address. But all the rest was smooth and pro!
