M	Maurizio Faraone on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La fontana fu realizzata a fine XVIII secolo usando una vasca in granito proveniente dalla preesistente "Fontana del Narciso" anticamente collocata nel giardino posteriore del Casino Nobile. Originariamente al centro qui c'era una statua con cavalli marini, ma essa fu sostituita, probabilmente per deterioramento, con un gruppo formato da putti e delfini. Anche questo nuovo gruppo di statue con il tempo si deteriorò divenendo dapprima abbozzato, poi informe ed infine irriconoscibile, quasi grottesco, agli occhi di chi guardava: da qui deriva il nome popolare di "Fontana dei Pupazzi". Ma i "Pupazzi"... adesso dove sono? In restauro? No... Rubati nel 1983, i “Pupazzi” non sono stati mai più ritrovati né sostituiti. The fountain was built in the late eighteenth century using a granite tub from the existing "Fountain of Narcissus" formerly located in the back garden of the Casino Nobile. Originally in the center there was a statue with sea horses, but it was replaced, probably by deterioration, with a group of putti and dolphins. Even this new group of statues with time deteriorated becoming first sketchy, then shapeless and finally unrecognizable, almost grotesque, in the eyes of those who looked: hence the popular name of "Fontana dei Pupazzi". But the "Pupazzi" ... now where are they? In restoration? No ... Stolen in 1983, the "Pupazzi" have never been found or replaced.
A	Alessio Fauni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Architettonicamente un pò anonima, nonostante sia veramente ben eseguita; questa fontana realizzata alla fine del Diciottesimo Secolo esprime la sua parte migliore nel meraviglioso intorno in cui è inserita, con la stupenda vista sulla famosa Piazza di Siena all'interno dei rinomati giardini di Villa Borghese. Un opera non primaria che comunque si inserisce bene nelle opere minori della capitale. Architecturally a little anonymous, despite being really well executed; this fountain built at the end of the eighteenth century expresses its best part in the wonderful surroundings in which it is inserted, with the wonderful view of the famous Piazza di Siena inside the renowned gardens of Villa Borghese. A non-primary work that still fits well into the minor works of the capital.
S	Stefano Manzo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In Viale dei Pupazzi, all’altezza di Piazza di Spagna, nel Q.III Pinciano, si trova una semplice fontana chiamata dei Pupazzi. La fontana risale al XVIII secolo, aveva questo nome (dal quale è derivato anche il nome del Viale), poiché alla sommità erano presenti dei piccoli putti, visibili in qualche foto del passato (mancano dal 1983), che sorreggevano con la testa un piccolo catino, dal quale zampillava dell’acqua. Oggi è molto meno elaborata, ma possiamo ammirare un bellissimo catino in granito a forma di calice con il bordo arrotondato, al cui centro è posizionata una piccola roccia, l’acqua fuoriuscendo, si riversa su una vasca circolare con il bordo piatto, che nella parte posteriore è quasi a fior di terra e nella parte anteriore quella che si affaccia sulla suggestiva Piazza di Siena è più alta poiché ai due estremi che si raccordano con il disegno architettonico di questo lato della piazza sono posti due gradini. Completano la fontana una grata in ferro a fior di terra, sempre sulla parte che dà sulla Piazza che raccoglie l’acqua che fuoriesce dalla vasca e una delimitazione semicircolare formata da un lastricato in porfido. In Viale dei Pupazzi, near Piazza di Spagna, in the Q.III Pinciano, there is a simple fountain called dei Pupazzi. The fountain dates back to the eighteenth century, it had this name (from which the name of the Viale is also derived), since at the top there were small putti, visible in some photos of the past (missing since 1983), which supported with their heads a small basin, from which water gushed. Today it is much less elaborate, but we can admire a beautiful chalice-shaped granite basin with a rounded edge, at the center of which a small rock is positioned, the water coming out, pours onto a circular tank with a flat edge, which in the the rear part is almost flat and the front that overlooks the suggestive Piazza di Siena is higher because two steps are placed at the two ends that connect with the architectural design of this side of the square. The fountain is completed by an iron grate on the ground, always on the part overlooking the square that collects the water that comes out of the tank and a semicircular delimitation formed by a porphyry pavement.
