★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questa caratteristica fontana si trova nel Rione V (Ponte), in via di Monte Brianzo, è stata costruita dal comune di Roma all’inizio del XX secolo.
Si trova incassata nel muro che sorregge la rampa che porta sul sovrastante Lungotevere Marzio, la nicchia rettangolare che contiene la fontana è incorniciata con delle semplici lesene.
La fontana ha come ornamento una lastra in marmo modanata con arco a tutto sesto, con nella parte superiore lo stemma del comune di Roma e sotto l’iscrizione Acqua Vergine.
Al centro è presente una testa di orso, nella cui bocca aperta è presente una cannella, che riversa un abbondante getto d’acqua su una tazza di travertino, di foggia antica, sorretta da un ornamentale modiglione.
Sulla destra si trova un moncone di una antica colonna Romana, appoggiata su un piedistallo.
Nell’insieme è una semplice ma gradevole composizione.
NOTA:
Fra le varie ipotesi del perché è presente la testa dell'orso nella fontana, una indica che ricorda la famiglia Orsini, che aveva diverse proprietà in questo rione.
NOTA FONTANE A ROMA
Le fontane a Roma, sono uno degli elementi caratteristici della città eterna, c’è chi dice che è la città con più fontane del mondo.
Sono state un elemento importante sin dall’antica Roma, oggi oltre le tipiche fontanelle in ghisa dette “nasoni” (circa 2000), ve ne sono di molto belle ubicate nei posti più differenti, quali ville, piazze, strade, cortili ed altro.
Alcune sono state realizzate dai più grandi geni artistici di tutti i tempi, un nome su tutti Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
L’importanza che hanno nell’arredo urbano è anche testimoniata dagli sguardi di ammirazione dei turisti e dal fatto che hanno anche l’utilità sociale di dissetare dopo magari una lunga passeggiata sotto il sole.
 This characteristic fountain is located in Rione V (Ponte), in via di Monte Brianzo, and was built by the municipality of Rome at the beginning of the twentieth century.
It is embedded in the wall that supports the ramp that leads to the overhanging Lungotevere Marzio, the rectangular niche that contains the fountain is framed with simple pilasters.
The fountain has as an ornament a molded marble slab with a round arch, with the coat of arms of the municipality of Rome in the upper part and under the inscription Acqua Vergine.
In the center there is a bear's head, in whose open mouth there is a cinnamon, which pours an abundant jet of water onto an ancient-style travertine cup supported by an ornamental modiglione.
On the right there is a stump of an ancient Roman column, resting on a pedestal.
Overall, it is a simple but pleasant composition.
NOTE:
Among the various hypotheses of why there is the bear's head in the fountain, one indicates that it recalls the Orsini family, which had several properties in this district.
