R	Robert Day on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really wanted to like this place but ended up feeling ripped off. Booked what we thought was a table inside but ended up outside on a rainy night due to some confusion which the chef came out after we were seated rather aggressively. Asked the waitress for the 3 course meal that we were advised was 27euro including wine but she didn’t understand so just told us what they had. So I ordered what I wanted with wine and as my wife eats little amounts we decided to share. Another couple turned up after struggling up the wet path and had the same booking issues. To my surprise the waitress did understand them and offered the 27 euro menu including wine.So we both sat outside listening to the everyone inside eating and talking as only Italians can do. Food was nice. The reason I felt ripped off was when I came to pay it was more expensive because the waitress said I ordered the dishes individually. So we ended up paying more for eating less. She apologised for not explaining it better but that was the price. Didn’t want a stand up argument with the chef so paid and left with a bad taste in my mouth. Lesson learnt.

The girl serving us was very attentive and made the extra effort to speak in English (Our Italian is not so good) and spoke us through the menu options. We opted for the £27 set menu per person which included a bottle of wine to share between the table. Each course was as good as the last and both our server and the chef made us feel welcome. The chef also brought out his own homemade Grappa for us to taste, which was a thoughtful touch. The view was also unquestionably beautiful as the Restaurant sits atop a hill, looking over the lake. We enjoyed the meal so much that we came back a second time and once again were very happy with our meal. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone staying in the area.
R	Rania Andrawos on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ a great experience, a hidden place in the mountain with amazing cucina contadina, typical of the region! great view, good wine and simple welcoming place I loved the primi piatti , pasta platea, suggested by the waitress .. great service but stuff a bit serious. you need reservation, or call before going, place is a bit hard to reach. it is open on 2 turns and when out of season it is open only at lunch

Highly recommend the walk to Bologna for the views. For us it was a set menu of antipasti, two pasta dishes, a main and dessert. (With bread and wine of course).
C	Christophe Bacon on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommended. Great traditional and home-made dishes from the area. Pizzocheris are some of the best we've had. Better book in advance. I even recommend the trek up and down to Varenna which will make you feel less guilty of the calorie intake.
