★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il busto bronzeo della tomba del Tosches e' opera di Egidio Casarotti ( altorilievi della chiesa nuova) Nelle tombe d'epoca ,una e' impreziosita da un altorilievo in refrattario di Oreste Quattrini. Stupendo il Cristo deposto in marmo ,ma non ricordo l'autore,Stupende quelle figure di donne,chiaramente ottocentesche,accanto all'uscita per la Chiesetta.
Fino al 6 luglio 1789 le inumazioni avvenivano nella chiesa di S. Maria e poi nella nuova parrocchiale di SS Filippo e Giacomo. Il nuovo cimitero viene benedetto il 15 agosto 1789 dal Par. Saverio Monteggia con inumazione della figlia di Francesco Lissone ( 8 mesi). Nel 1882 si pensò di sposare il cimitero al Lazzaretto. Nel 1925 fu affidato all’architetto Piero Portaluppi lo studio di porticati per i colombari, ossari e tombe, dello scalone di accesso e delle camere mortuarie ma mai eseguiti. Nel 1946, per alleviare la disoccupazione, furono costruiti i colombari e l’ossario che non erano stai compiuti nel 1928.
Prima della costruzione della strada postale a inizio ottocento a sud del cimitero ( attuale Via Varese) la strada che congiungeva Laveno a Cittiglio passava accanto alla Chiesa di S. Maria e il cimitero. La costruzione del cimitero cancellò una parte della Via Roncò S. Maria, che ora è divisa in 2 tronconi: uno che arriva al cimitero, il secondo, rimasto sentiero, a cui si accede da via Varese, che permette oggi accede alla vecchia cascina ( detta “ di S. Maria).

Until 6 July 1789 the burials took place in the church of S. Maria and then in the new parish church of SS Filippo and Giacomo. The new cemetery was blessed on 15 August 1789 by Par. Saverio Monteggia with the burial of the daughter of Francesco Lissone (8 months). In 1882 it was decided to marry the cemetery at the Lazzaretto. In 1925 the architect Piero Portaluppi was entrusted with the study of arcades for the columbaria, ossuaries and tombs, the access staircase and the mortuary but never completed. In 1946, to alleviate unemployment, the columbaria and the ossuary were built which had not been completed in 1928.
Before the construction of the postal road in the early nineteenth century south of the cemetery (now Via Varese), the road that connected Laveno to Cittiglio passed next to the Church of S. Maria and the cemetery. The construction of the cemetery canceled a part of Via Roncò S. Maria, which is now divided into 2 sections: one that reaches the cemetery, the second, which remains a path, which can be accessed from Via Varese, which today allows access to the old farmhouse ( called “di S. Maria).
