The church of Santa Paola located in the center of Mantua, has no particular architectural features. Not finding it open (because it is used as a school, even if it should be tourist), I can't give you more than 1 star.

Ora sconsacrata ed adibita a scuola di formazione professionale. Si può visitare solo su richiesta o in occasione di manifestazioni. Church built in the early 400s with an adjoining convent, later used as a Pantheon by the Gonzaga family. Now deconsecrated and converted into a vocational training school. You can visit only on demand or at events.

Alla costruzione partecipò anche l'architetto ducale Luca Fancelli che nel 1460 completò la costruzione del chiostro. Suor Livia Paola Gonzaga, figlia della marchesa Isabella d'Este e priora del monastero, fece affrescare la chiesa dopo la tumulazione della madre, grazie all'intervento del fratello Federico II Gonzaga, marchese di Mantova. Giulio Romano intervenne nell'opera, di cui rimangono tracce, dipingendo la scena funebre del funerale di Federico II. Tra la fine del Settecento e la fine degli anni cinquanta ospitò una caserma e una fabbrica. Oggi l'ex-convento ospita una scuola di restauro. Essendo il pantheon dei Gonzaga qui è sepolta anche Isabella d'Este. The church, with an adjoining monastery dedicated to the Body of Christ, was built in the early fifteenth century at the behest of Paola Malatesta, wife of Gianfrancesco Gonzaga, fifth captain of the people of Mantua to house the Franciscan Poor Clares. This resting place of Isabella d’Este - the premiere lady of Renaissance, is slowly becoming a ruin. The fragments of its former glory are spread in the weeds outside. It’s a special place nonetheless, the place of reflection on our human destiny. Without there being Isabella, there would have been no need to visit Mantova.
