★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Struttura molto originale nella forma e nella ringhiera che avvolge le pareti interne con mattoni a vista, semplice, si affaccia su una piazza ben tenuta e frequentata ed è affiancata da un vivace oratorio con cinema.
Very original structure in shape and in the railing that surrounds the internal walls with exposed brick, simple, overlooking a well-kept and busy square and is flanked by a lively oratory with cinema.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una bella chiesa, semplice nella composizione architettonica, capace di parlare: la struttura (esternamente) è avvolgente, come un abbraccio; per entrare in chiesa si sale un breve scalinata, come si sale/si deve salire per incontrare il divino; all’interno tutto converge verso il ciborio esagonale, altissimo e illuminato dall’alto (la luce di Dio?), che sovrasta l’altare.
Molto significativa la presenza del Crocifisso all’esterno, al vertice centrale della facciata (tra la terra e il cielo): un Cristo senza croce, opera di Umberto Milani, di una essenzialità assoluta.
Questa chiesa, progettata dall’architetto Carlo de Carli tra il 1954 e il 1956, è un’opera architettonica molto interessante; l’unico difetto – secondo me – è la scarsa luminosità interna: poche e piccole le finestre alle pareti (in mattoni a vista), pavimento scuro (forse) invitano alla meditazione, ma non danno il senso della gioia del ritrovarsi in una chiesa.
A beautiful church, simple in its architectural composition, capable of speaking: the structure (externally) is enveloping, like an embrace; to enter the church you go up a short staircase, as you go up / you have to go up to meet the divine; inside everything converges towards the hexagonal ciborium, very high and illuminated from above (the light of God?), which overlooks the altar.
The presence of the Crucifix on the outside is very significant, at the central vertex of the facade (between the earth and the sky): a Christ without a cross, the work of Umberto Milani, of absolute essentiality.
This church, designed by architect Carlo de Carli between 1954 and 1956, is a very interesting architectural work; the only flaw - in my opinion - is the low internal light: few and small windows on the walls (in exposed brick), dark floor (perhaps) invite meditation, but do not give a sense of the joy of being in a church.

Se poi si è anche credenti, non c'è bisogno di molto altro.
It is a place of worship, it may not be as beautiful as a cathedral but the energy that is perceived inside it is invigorating.
And if you are also a believer, you don't need much else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di Sant’Ildefonso si trova a 15 min dalla fermata della lilla. È stata inaugurata nel 1956, è dedicata dall’arcivescovo Giovanni Battista Montini alla memoria del cardinale Ildefonso Schuster, suo predecessore. Si trova a pochi minuti dalla metro di portello, linea lilla. Ha uno stile particolare ma interessante.
The church of Sant’Ildefonso is 15 minutes from the lilac stop. It was inaugurated in 1956 and is dedicated by Archbishop Giovanni Battista Montini to the memory of Cardinal Ildefonso Schuster, his predecessor. It is located a few minutes from the metro of hatch, lilac line. It has a particular but interesting style.
