★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Posto meraviglioso!
Wonderful place! Path for hikers, not suitable for families. A bit difficult to find if you are not familiar with the place. Once you arrive at the Citelli refuge, you will find ample free parking. Leave your car there and go down the street you came from on foot. After a while you will find a sign with the words "723 serracozzo" which indicates the start of the route. Warning! follow the path on the right, marked with dots of red paint. The journey takes about 40 minutes and there are several climbs and descents, with a very fascinating panorama.
Arriving at a large clearing you will find the cave. I recommend calculating the time to be there around 11 to see the beautiful perpendicular ray of sunshine but it also depends on the seasons.
The cave has 2 bifurcations, the one on the right, immediately after the entrance, which unfortunately has collapsed, and the one on the left still intact which goes underground for about 50-60 meters and ends with a slightly more substantial landslide.
I hope this review will make this little known destination more usable for everyone

Superlativo!
Very suggestive approach, immersed in the yellow colors of the low vegetation and the whites of the birch stems together with the black of the lava sand. small mouths in the ground foreshadowed the arrival at the entrance. Initially very low access, but which explodes in a very high and suggestive arch inside the cave. Superb!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice cave, quite long (300-400m), easy to access and walk down inside. I recommend to have a lamp with you if you want to visit it, and watch out for your head if you progress far inside!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing lava flow tunnel complex formed in the 1971 eruption. I've visited some of the other caves and this one was by far the most impressive from my inexperienced geologist eye. You can really perceive the torrent of lava that has flown through this tunnel. The right side towards the entrance seems collapsed but I could not thoroughly investigate due to lack of equipment. The left side is still easily walkable for about 25 meters.
The way to the cave is well signaled (number 723 on the last road turn before Rifugio Citteli) and easy to do even with adverse weather conditions.
