Vi si accede daun lungo declivio con dislivello pronunciato. La prossimità del sito al presidio musulmano di Entella ha in età federiciana probabilmente contribuito a rilanciare, dal punto di vista militare, il piccolo castello. La costruzione della grande cisterna potrebbe essere legata a questa concentrazione di soldati nella prima metà del XIII secolo. Alla fine dello stesso secolo, il castello sembra avere conservato un certo ruolo militare. Di contro nel XIV secolo il castello, forse danneggiato dopo il patto di alleanza fra Palermo e Corleone, (che decisero di distruggerlo)perse la sua rilevanza militare. Calatamauro Castle and Mill The Castle of Calatamauro is located on a mighty rocky relief (764 m.s.l.m.) It is accessed by a long slope with a pronounced difference in height. The proximity of the site to the Muslim garrison of Entella probably contributed to relaunching the small castle from a military point of view. The construction of the large cistern could be linked to this concentration of soldiers in the first half of the 13th century. At the end of the same century, the castle seems to have retained a certain military role. On the other hand, in the fourteenth century the castle, perhaps damaged after the alliance pact between Palermo and Corleone, (who decided to destroy it) lost its military importance.

In questa stagione il sentiero che porta in vetta è percorribile, ma preferibilmente con scarpe da trekking e bastoni causa fango ed erba/spine anche alte. Il panorama rimane sempre straordinario. A lovely place, shame about the poor maintenance. In this season the path that leads to the summit is practicable, but preferably with trekking shoes and sticks due to mud and grass / thorns even high. The panorama remains always extraordinary.
