P	Pietro Amendolara on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L’attuale cattedrale, che costituisce la settima ricostruzione dalle fondamenta dell’originaria, fu consacrata dal Vescovo Michele Arcangelo Luppoli il 26 settembre 1802. Tra l’XI e il XII sec. un priore ebbe l’incarico di ricostruire la cattedrale in stile romanico. Di questa sopravvive solo il massiccio campanile. Dopo un lungo periodo di silenzio, nel XV sec. Irsina torna ad essere sede vescovile associata alla diocesi di Andria. Alterne vicende portarono alla totale demolizione della cattedrale nel 1765 ed alla sua ricostruzione fra il 1777 e il 1802, ad opera del vescovo Agostino de Simone. Da ammirare: la statua di S. Eufemia attribuita al Mantegna e le reliquie (l'intero corpo) di San Vittore infine il Cristo senza barba. Da visitare i sotterranei con l'accompagnamento del Sig. La statua in pietra è una testimonianza del gusto dell'epoca. La concattedrale ricca di arredi da visionare. Bellissima l'architettura dell'abside e della città nel suo insieme. L'interno è a pianta a croce latina, con tre navate suddivise da pilastri e terminanti con tre absidi con transetto sormontato da una cupola e con diverse cappelle laterali. Al suo interno si possono ammirare opere di grande valore tra cui la statua di Santa Eufemia, patrona della città, attribuita al Mantegna. È una chiesa molto bella, interessante e molto illuminata e decorata. The Cathedral of Irsina, named after Santa Maria Assunta, is an ancient building with a façade with Neapolitan baroque forms and a richly decorated central portal. I	Ilario Bonomi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Scrivere che la chiesa è aperta dalle 09:30 e poi alle 10 passate è ancora chiusa...mettere due numeri di telefono di cui chiamandone uno dice di chiamare quell'altro, poi chiamando l'altro non risponde nessuno, e richiamando il primo risulta spento, non è certo il modo per attirare l'interesse che questa chiesa meriterebbe. Si vede che non interessa che i suoi tesori vengano ammirati. Peccato. La vera sorpresa è invece il lato posteriore, sulla SP96 direzione sud, dalla quale si evince la stratificazione storica e conseguente confusione architettonica che la rendono unica e simbolo del paese. Seen from the entrance side it is nothing special. The real surprise is instead the rear side, on the SP96 southbound, which shows the historical stratification and consequent architectural confusion that make it unique and a symbol of the town.
