Ho fatto un giro per il borgo, nessuna indicazione e sopratutto nessuna attività che promuove il turismo. Il castello è molto carino. Essendo in restauro non ho potuto visitarlo nella sua interezza. carino il viale d'ingresso. Dopo il restauro potrò essere più preciso. Comunque nel complesso il posto merita di essere visitato. Bovino, very nice village. Little exploited from the tourist point of view. I walked around the village, no indication and above all no activity that promotes tourism. The castle is very nice. Già rocca in età romana, baluardo difensivo di Longobardi e Bizantini, fu raso al suolo alla fine dell’XI secolo. Della ricostruzione fa parte la torre cilindrica di età normanna sostenuta da un massiccio barbacane a forma piramidale, nucleo del futuro castello, ristrutturato al tempo di Federico II. Secondo la tradizione soggiornò qui Manfredi prima della sconfitta di Benevento. Maestoso nella sua mole e rimaneggiato più volte nel corso dei secoli, dal 1575 diventa residenza dei duchi Guevara, che lo trasformano in una sontuosa dimora gentilizia. The castle / ducal palace of Bovino is located on a rocky spur and dominates the entire valley below. Formerly a fortress in Roman times, a defensive bulwark of the Lombards and Byzantines, it was razed to the ground at the end of the 11th century. The reconstruction includes the cylindrical tower of the Norman age supported by a massive pyramid-shaped barbican, the nucleus of the future castle, renovated at the time of Frederick II. According to tradition, Manfredi stayed here before the defeat of Benevento. Majestic in its size and remodeled several times over the centuries, from 1575 it became the residence of the Guevara dukes, who transformed it into a sumptuous noble residence.

R	Ron Colangelo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed there in 2018. The castle is Beautiful. The TV didn't work but we only stayed one night. It was very drafty. But it is a medieval castle. The views were spectacular especially sunrise out our window overlooking bovino.. it was clean and spacious. It was a great experience.
