★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a 17th Baroque chapel which is included in the fabric of the "Palazzo Santa Chiara". It occupies the void of the room in which St Catherine of Siena died -the fittings were taken to Santa Maria sopra Minerva nearby, where they can be seen.
The chapel had a low point recently, when it was the drinks bar of a theatre here which is now defunct. Fortunately, it has been restored and the altar reconsecrated. Liturgical events occur, but not regularly.
