Art Resort Galleria Umberto

Very friendly service and warm welcome. Traditional Interieur and unique location. Everything can be reached with a short walk. Breakfast good. Bed comfortable. Fairly clean. Only Italian TV, which is okay. Wireless Lan okay. Bathroom a bit outdated (small washbasin, damaged, lack of storage). Recommend.

The stay at this hotel was a real disappointment. For 3 nights we paid CHF 1'040 resp. USD 1'200 (excluding local additional fees) for a single room and a twin room. I asked the hotel a few days in advance, as it was a jubilee trip for my mother to give us two beautiful rooms. The reception is on the 4th floor. Nobody informed we had to pay and have appropriate coints for the very small and old elevator. This every time/-day. When we arrived the reception by the receptionist was chilly and inadequate for a luxury hotel in this high price range. A so-called welcome drink consisted of an artificial orange drink, which was very cheap and tasted. The rooms assigned to us had a bad view of a pile of garbage (see photos) in front of our window. After appropriate intervention we could change one room. For the other one I asked three times and three times I got a clear "No, I told you that it does not work" belongs. The communication style was like talking to a student and not a paying guest. Only on the third day we might have been able to change - but as we were on a trip we could not do it and nobody told us before leaving the Hotel to leave our suitcases in the room. The bad result was that we could not sleep for three entire nights. We heard constant noise from hotel guests above us, from the celebrating people in the bars downstairs and the garbage men who threw the collected garbage and bottles to the garbage dump outside the hotel until early in the morning. The windows were completely closed, but they are so bad and cheap that you can hear everything in the room acoustically what is going on outside. The breakfast was the only acceptable part of our stay: some sweet cakes, fruits, eggs and two friendly waiters. The negative experience in the so-called Art Resort Hotel was not at all a 4 star level. The Deluxe and Premium rooms were made cheaply and had a lot of defects (e.g. dirty shower, too high toilet, sloping lavabo) and two beds which are for adults too tide. The list of defects in the hotel and room is incomplete.

Very central location, classic environment. Quiet rooms at night that can be made really dark for those with light sleep. Not easy to find, though: Entrance is located in the center of the Galleria, south-west side. Go through the iron gate (small sign on the gate, you have to ring a bell if gate is closed). Then take the elevator to the 4th floor. Elevator needs 10 Cent coin to operate during weekday business hours (other times free). Breakfast has a great variety of cakes and great coffee, but only two types of toast for bread. Buffet is not always replenished, but if you're flexible, you'll never leave hungry. Rooms are richly decorated (see pictures on website) and clean. We stayed there for four nights and would go again.

We looked for an a available hotel for night in Napoli while driving at midnight from Roma, called a few hotels and this was the only hotel which ansewered. Francesco from the reception was with us on a call almost the whole way to Napoli making a reservation, finding a parking place for us, explaining how to park and to get the hotel. The night reception process was quick and smooth, he made sure we had everything we needed. The room is well designed and equipted and the bed is perfect. The location is superb, inside the beautiful Galery Umberto, so you get up in the heart of Napoli, just above the coffee places and the shops. One of the best service experience of our lives. Francesco, you are the best!!!

Beautiful spacious hotel room with huge bathroom, good service, excellent central location on the main pedestrian drag. The galleria (mall) itself is a bit run down and homeless ppl sleep there every night, but they don’t disturb anyone and there are always police around the area so we always felt very safe even late at night. Would stay again.

Nice, relatively quiet hotel, inside old shopping mall, across from the opera. It is spread out over several floors, connected by a quaint lift that requires 10 cents between 8 am and 8 pm to get going… Good breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Entire hotel appears wrapped in scaffolding presently.
