Man weiß ja nie.
It is already known from other archaeological sites: Sibari may have been a port city, or at least had a connection to the sea. The fact that silting has progressed so far within a few thousand years is known from other places where old port cities, such as Delphi, are so far inland that one can no longer imagine it. Shockingly, I think the adjacent road is quite daring from an archaeological point of view. Were old walls simply cleared away at the expense of the street? You never know.

Museum with a rather large and well-stocked collection. A very interesting area from an archaeological point of view, but not well kept, sometimes overgrown with weeds. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A visit to both the Park and the Museum is recommended.

Though there isn't very much to see if compared to other archeological sites in southern Italy, it is always moving to walk on Roman built roads, especially if underneath one knows that there was Sybaris, the mythic city which gave us the epicurian adjective Sibarite. The staff who work there are very professional and kind. It isn't expensive to enter which makes it even more interesting for a visit.

Even if the place is not that bad and workers are all gentle, the park feels abandoned from many years and in some place you need to do a slalom over the grass. It's 2 stars but it can potentially go to 4.

Beautiful place, the city is actually the roman Copia, built on the older Turi, that is the second greek foundation (400 bc) of Sibari (700 bc), still in excavation, deserve a stop!

I only saw it as i was cycling past it. Although reg entrance was closed a gate on main highway was open so went in shot some pics ... notice boards in Italian but am sure you can findmore info on wikipedia.... Not sure why it is so sunken as most ruins are above ground level.... maybe marsh land has risen over the years.
