Sono entrata grazie all'evento "Busker Breno" e se fuori c'era gente, musica e caos dentro questo spazio mi sono trovata davanti una silente semplicità ? Abbellita poi da un'installazione artistica mi ha subito conquistata! Deconsecrated church in the center of Breno. Deconsecrated church but absolutely to visit ... remarkable frescoes in the center of Breno !!!! Very special you can breathe the medieval history!

Ristrutturata agli inizi del XVI secolo verrà infine sconsacrata nell’ottocento ed utilizzata per scopi militari prima e civili poi ed infine monumento nazionale dagli inizi del secolo scorso. Si presenta con un impianto asimmetrico e goticheggiante. Dal portale che reca i resti di un affresco di argomento mariano, si accede ad un’unica aula con tre campate gotiche che dal fondo raggiungono la parete del presbiterio con un arco a tutto sesto. Affreschi più o meno ben conservati decorano le pareti, alcuni del Romanino ed una pala d’altare del Piazza abbellisce la parete di fondo del presbiterio. La cifra più importante dell’impianto è decisamente la sua semplicità ed il senso di pace che da l’ambiente così raccolto. Abbiamo la fortuna di visitarla di sera e da soli, senza rumori ed è stata un’esperienza mistica. The church dates back to the first half of the fourteenth century. Renovated in the early sixteenth century, it will finally be deconsecrated in the nineteenth century and used first for military and then civil purposes and finally a national monument since the beginning of the last century. It has an asymmetrical and gothic style layout. From the portal that bears the remains of a fresco of a Marian theme, you enter a single room with three Gothic bays that reach the wall of the presbytery from the back with a round arch. More or less well-preserved frescoes decorate the walls, some by Romanino and an altarpiece in the Piazza embellishes the back wall of the presbytery. The most important figure of the system is definitely its simplicity and the sense of peace that gives the environment so collected. We are lucky enough to visit it in the evening and alone, without noise and it was a mystical experience.

L'edificio ad unica aula, risale al secolo XV e l'interno è dominata dal potente ciclo del presbiterio opera di Girolamo Romanino. Affascina in particolare l'affresco della decapitazione di Balthasar. Inoltre si possono ammirare le decorazioni sulle vele della volta del presbiterio attribuite a Pietro da Cemmo. Pregevole è la pala d'altare opera del pittore lodigiano Callisto Piazza. In the center of Breno and overlooking the homonymous square stands the church. The building with a single hall dates back to the 15th century and the interior is dominated by the powerful presbytery cycle by Girolamo Romanino. The fresco of Balthasar's beheading is particularly fascinating. Furthermore you can admire the decorations on the sails of the presbytery vault attributed to Pietro da Cemmo. The altarpiece by the Lodi painter Callisto Piazza is valuable.
