Hidden Historical spot. Recommend to visit if you are interested in history.. But the roads to Paestum was annoying. My car tire bursted while driving towards the site.

Honestly, it beat Pompeii for me. As a solo traveller with a car, it was quite a drive from Amalfi, so if distance is an issue this may not be accessible for you. As a history nerd, it was very interesting to see the mix / overlap of the period of Greek colonization of the Italian peninsula, and the Roman presence at the site afterwards. The placards explaining the different parts are good, and they've opened a lot of the site to foot traffic (within reason). The crowds were small, there were families with small children, and there was some shade. Obviously the temples were the highlight, but the tomb of the founders was another highlight that I didn't expect.

A huge open space with astonishing (originally) greek temples, which are in really good condition. Unfortunately not because of the Italian government. Seems like they do not care about this place. Grass is growing out of the columns, without any cleaning, despite of the fact that this is on the UNESCO world heritage list. Definitely worth a visit ?️?

What can you say about this place when all it’s in the pictures? Quiet ancient ruins located in a very small town. The train leaves you right next to the ruins with a short 10min walk, but with the ocean and beautiful views, who can complain. It’s worth the trip from Rome or Naples if you are into visiting archeological sites. I basically had the ruins all for my self because there was hardly any people. After finishing your stroll through the ruins, you can refresh yourself with a nice local wine on the few restaurants around the site.

Very well kept and interesting archeological site with ancient Greek temples and "newer" Roman republican ruins. There are 3 well preserved Doric temples and the less ancient Roman city ruins. The park is very large and there is a Museum worth seeing for artifacts, frescoes and the famous "diver" fresco. It is only a 10 minutes walk from the Paestum railroad station. The Regional train departs from Napoli almost every hour and it takes about 75 minutes from Salerno just 35 minutes.

A trio of some of best preserved Greek temples (pre-Roman) in the world. Is it worth visiting? A resounding yes. Best way to get there is by train from Naples (fastest train is about 1h each way). Train station is an easy walk from the ruins. The museum is also interesting , a magnificent collection of funerary frescoes that are worth seeing.

Amazing!! Definitely worth the drive down to see some of the most well preserved ancient greek ruins. The highlight is the three temples but there are also other ruins and a small museum. Tickets were €12 per person which we bought there. There is also parking nearby which is convenient and a fair few restaurants to stop at before or after. Overall a great place to visit!
