L'edificio originario risale al 1100 circa, ma di quello non rimane nulla, poiché venne totalmente distrutto nel 1305. Fu ricostruito durante il Quattrocento, mentre nel secolo successivo furono realizzati i bastioni difensivi. Il Settecento ne vide la trasformazione da tipica fortificazione di ascendenza medievale in elegante dimora signorile, con la costruzione di ampi saloni, di scalinate e di terrazze, sovrastate dalla svettante torretta. Nel parco si trova la Cappella di Sant'Andrea, al cui interno è custodito un importante ciclo pittorico trecentesco. Purtroppo il castello è proprietà privata, ed è accessibile ai turisti solo in occasioni speciali. It is an imposing castle, whose structure has been remodeled several times over the centuries. The original building dates back to around 1100, but nothing remains of it, as it was completely destroyed in 1305. It was rebuilt during the 15th century, while the defensive bastions were built in the following century. The eighteenth century saw its transformation from a typical fortification of medieval ancestry into an elegant stately home, with the construction of large halls, stairways and terraces, dominated by the towering turret. In the park there is the Chapel of Sant'Andrea, inside which an important fourteenth-century pictorial cycle is kept. Unfortunately the castle is privately owned, and is only accessible to tourists on special occasions.
