★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Orta San Giulio is a romantic small town, located in province of Novara. Its position on the bank of lake Orta, jutting to the lake, with old buildings adorned with frescoes, exudes an atmosphere of charm. The island of Orta can be clearly seen from the bank and easily reached by boat. Orta has not yet been flooded by tourist. In my opinion this is a hidden jewel, close to Milan but off the beaten track. A must visit. Spend a night at least and you will surely experience a romantic evening.
