the slant of the Trinità dei Monti that rises from the Piazza di Spagna, is one of the most grandiose urban scenographies of the baroque period, built for Innocent XIII by Francesco De Sactis in 1723.26, giving a definite settlement to the strong level between the Piazza and the Church . The imposing architectural setting, which replaced the overhanging tree paths for the Pinciano hill, is divided into three parts by a succession of ramps that are divided into branches or joined into stairs according to a sinuous, monotonous course, at the foot of the staircase, which in spring it is adorned with azaleas, cippi with the French lilies (Louis XV) alternate with the eagles of Inicenzo XIII. On these bellisisme stairs it is forbidden to sit and eat to preserve these monumental stairs. le versant de la Trinità dei Monti qui se dresse sur la Piazza di Spagna, est l’une des plus grandioses scénographies urbaines de la période baroque, construite pour Innocent XIII par Francesco De Sactis en 1723.26, donnant un règlement définitif au niveau élevé entre la Piazza et l’église. . The church of Santissima Trinita dei Monti enjoys one of the best locations in Rome, standing as it does at the top of the Spanish Steps. It is home to Daniele da Volterra's famous painting of the Deposition.

Not as amazing as the other churches in the area but was still worth crawling to the top of the stairs

The Church of Trinità dei Monti is right in the heart of Rome city center, overlooking the Spanish Steps. It was built in 1502 by orders of Luis the 12th, King of France, to express gratitude to Saint Francis of Paola. Its Renaissance style attracts the eye of those who come to the Piazza di Espagna and defies the visitor to go up the stairs and enter this urban oasis.

One of the most scenic places in the world. Beautiful in every season, majestic in spring when thousands of colourful flowers are placed at every side of the stairs. Incredibly overcrowded, but the atmosphere is relaxed. Maybe one should come here at dawn to take excellent pictures

The Spanish Steps are a butterfly-shaped staircase in Rome that draws a big crowd thanks to great views from the top. Occupying a steep slope between Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti up top, the Trinità dei Monti Church also warrants a look for its elaborate interior designed by the French state during the 16th Century.

Nice little church, with a nice Egyptian obelisk in front of it and a nice sun dial on it. Our visit was cut short as the Mass was starting and they only allow you to stay in the back during this time. Probably worth the visit if you are already there.

Late Renaissance Chiesa di Trinità Dei Monti is more famous for its two bell towers exterior than for its rather modest one nave interior. This church and the Roman Obelisk (a copy of Egyptian obelisk) perched on the top of famous Spanish Steps have become an iconic image of the Eternal City and a huge magnet for tourists. Amazing views of Rome from the upper terrace are certainly worth climbing the steps even in the rain.
