BEWARE - Rude staff and hidden charges. Wife and I came for lunch and we came across the rudest waiter in all of our dining experience ever (and we have travelled throughout asia, europe and US). The whole menu was in Italian, so we asked for help with translating and recommending dishes. The old waiter was very much brushed our queries aside and very much said "in Venice we eat seafood....so order seafood", and was very pushy in getting the order from us. We politely told him to give is a few more minutes, so that we can decide on what we want to have and make an order later. He left and start talking loudly in Italian to his colleagues and pointing to our table, which I am guessing (and very confidently sure) that he is making negative / racist comment about us. He only stop when both him and his colleague saw that I am staring straight back at the two of them. From then on, another waiter (seem to be his supervisor / manager) took over our table and served us very nicely & professionally...which resulted in him receiving a handsome tip from us after our meal, just so that the 1st waiter can see what he is missing out on for being such a rude person in the hospitality industry. The food - average to just below average. However, the hidden charges and their "special of the day" with market price is ridiculous. $45 for a plate of spaghetti with scampi..wtf. We don't mind paying for food & services, but not the way this restaurant operate....purely a scam that target tourist.

Very unpolite stuff: obviously was speaking English, but didn't pay any attention for difficulties in understanding menu in Italien and didn't give any advice. And after all that, in the bill you will see 2 unexpected lines: cordeto (2,5 euro per person) and servizio 7 euro. Unbelievable for such poor service. Pasta was nothing special, antipasti was not worth 15 euro per small portion. Not recommended at all. There are much better places nearby.

"Do you want melon with your prosciutto?" Yes, we wanted melon, but not if it's €6 for two thin slices, no thank you! Not mentioning the added €6 felt like a con to us. Wine recommendation was really bad, maybe to get rid of bad bottles? Asked for help with the menu that was in Italian, got vague and rather impatient answers, never mentioned that the price of fish was per 100g, so when the price turn from €7 to €21 you understand the surprise. Also, let's mention the service AND charges, that of course are never mentioned. If you want a tomato salad, do not expect more than a sliced tomato, if you want it seasoned, it's at your discretion, thank you very much for such attention. So, basically €4 to slice a tomato, I let you judge of the value of it. Finally, the lasagna was actually very good. Conclusion, go there only if you know what is good and what you want... and don't forget to add €10 for services and charges!

Came for a dinner one time and decided to come back a day after. Quite popular among locals which is a good sign. The food was great, the service was fast and no complains. I see in some reviews that people complains about service surcharges, but that's pretty common in Venice. At this restaurant: expect to pay 3EUR/person for sitting, plus 12% of service on top of a bill.

This trattoria is the essence of Italy- kind and friendly waiters (wearing white jackets), deliscious grilled fish (fresh! You can tell immediately), crazy deliscious deserts (tiramisu! creme brulee with pineapple!) and great coffee. Reasonable prices - a place to go in Venice :)

The meals were tasty, but: - expensive for little portions (25€ for a 30cm sea bass), no side dish - not very friendly and not courteous service (approached us 3 times, taking order/ serving food/ bringing the bill) - appetizer (little bread rolls) were dry/ hard

Venice is a heartbreakking city, as you will see right afterwards : One thing is to discover a place, and another to return : In February of 2018, I photographed some of the cooks (just for pleasure), and now in May 2018 I brought along the pictures. I was eating two times at Remigio, being served subsequently by both owners, quite some caracters. The five pictures of the cooks, taken after "mercoledi delle ceneri" are a wonderful piece of theatre, like a gift. Great ! If you would - hypothetically - be sentenced to go to a punishment camp somewhere and you have some last free time, go to Remigio ! It is an extraordinary atmosphere, the waiters usually wearing white jackets. It is like on a ship. One of the owners is wearing extraordinary ties, explaining that he has just 110. Have some Venezian starter, and you can also have fegato, or delicious fish. When I left, the kitchen crew waved to me. What like you more to have in Venice ? And, Castello, where the trattoria is located, is a place remembering Canaletto. I was taking a picture of the Campanile from the rear side, and if you look very carefully, you will see that the Campanile (tower) is hanging to the right side. Very good sign of orientation if you walk around, and look - on the picture - on the wonderful sky. Canaletto ! +++++++ It is very surprising that the comments on the restaurant (or the trattoria) are of such different nature, going from deception (which seems hardly justified, but everybody is his own judge) to five stars attributed. We have been passing two days of a long - and very rainy - weekend in Venice to shoot difficult photographs of buildings in Venice. I used an old and very powerful Rolleiflex true film photo camera. Also: We went to two other restaurants well rated in Michelin (sure a reference), Anice Stellato and Vecio Fritolin, an institution in Venice. After a lot of rain, you need a really decent restaurant, and the other two places treated us absolutely nicely ! On the last evening and for the lunch before leaving I went to Remigio, at the recommendation of my nearby hotel, and I was very positively surprised by the level of the food, the choice offered by the menu list and the quality of the waiters. There was a lot of politeness, and it was very nice to see that this is still a restaurant of "old quality" (and not of "fast Money"). ++++ Finally, another memory : It is not too easy to find Remigio, and the best starting point is on the water front, close to Zaccaria and Arsenale, at Gabriele Sandwirth. Your orientation can be (see photograph) a memorial plate on Franz Kafka, writing a letter to his fiancΓ© Felice Bauer. Certainly, Franz Kafka is one of the greatest writers (indded) of XX. century, but - for many reasons - he had not a happy life, starting with his father and ending with tubercolosis - and other. But, from the corner of the Hotel, you go on and use brigdes, coming along (important) a farmacia, and you will find the restaurant. And have another look at the church tower, and the Canaletto sky. I went back to enjoy Remigio. +++++ July 2018 : Understanding Pictures - including photographs - is a delicate matter. On the Sunday I went first to Remigio it was literally rainig "cats and dogs", and we were forced , soaked - to take aperitiv at 10.30 in the morning, before lunch. Here are some of the rain photographs. Without all that water coming down (the rain photographs are great) the picture of the church would have not been possible. Enjoy rain photographs. +++ Photographs, considered again, even after time, contain secrets : Take again a look at the photographs of the kitchen staff, left hand please ! Astonishingly enough, on the beginning, you think that there are four (4) persons on the photographs, but there is one hand on a shoulder too much ! Only, after going through, you will find the fifth person. Remigio is not only, as it is said, a restaurant for Commissario Brunetti (Questura is not far away), but also most likely for Maigret ! Enjoy the photographs !

Fantastic seafood restaurant. I had visited several years ago with some Italians who knew it and returned recently with my husband. I had read that they can be unwelcoming to tourists but we had no problem. This is a really authentic place and the seafood is fantastic. We had a great meal. I asked if they had razor clams because I remembered them from my previous visit and they did. The fried seafood and vegetable combo was super fresh and light. Really delicious.
